Well main reason is because you won't Love it anymore once you see what changing it to rwd does to it is what everyone here is saying in one form or another.
I think what he is trying to Say is no matter what we say and how much we try and persuade you away from this idea you are still going to do it no matter how much we tell you that you will not be happy with the results.
Opinion. And I disagree. Will it handle like a GT86? No. But it will change things up. And it's cheap, and reversible. Honestly. I wouldn't mess with the whole rear diff nonsense. Just don't launch it hard (and if you do want to drive like a nut-job....put some junk tires on the back)....and it'll be alright.
What jason said... also I'm saying you are bored with your car and you've had it less than a year. I remember when I was that age I was never happy with my cars for more than a month or two. At that age I could trade cars at the drop of a hat.
I'm actually not that seriously considering it, I'm looking a lot at brz's, bmw's, and a few r32 gtr's in Canada!
I will point out that he has thousands of dollars of photography equipment and a 2007 WRX Limited (AND ALL THOSE RIMS)... I am not saying he has R32 money but it doesn't seem like his pockets are empty. I remember when I was 19, I owned a 20 year old Honda Accord and I didn't even have a Polaroid...
No, I mean, he reminds me of every 16-21 year old boy on MNSportCompacts that would come in and talk about how they were going to get a Skyline. Granted, now you can actually import the first year r32s into the US as the 25 year rule has landed, so instead of sneaking one in grey market and doing underhanded methods of registering and insuring, you can now spend an equal amount of time securing customs paperwork and figuring out the forms. My point is the list reads like a teen boy's gran turismo JO session. And ends with the dull, predictable kleenex full of disappointment.
Agreed but I think most car guys who talk about importing R32's similarly have their head up their asses about it. The blood/sweat/tears/cum/time/money that is required to fully import one legally is much more exhausting than the average RK/StanceNation/LowKey attendee would think. Also, no offense to @T_riggidy but I pray to the car gods every night that you dont import an R32 and stance the **** out of it...
Thank you! And yes I work hard for what I have, in all reality they aren't that expensive and I would be trading in my car for one too. Thanks for not trolling
Ah, to be young, foolish, and have cash to waste. Glad I'm not the only one thinking along these lines. When I was 19, I had a well-used Civic with no power steering and a 110 film instamatic that needed flash cubes. Am I jealous? Nah, man. I work for a living.
Lmao I said since I was little I was going to get a subaru and look I've had two now. So I will have a skyline sooner or later. At least I have good taste in cars. But hey how's that bad ass mid-life crisis 370z going!? Because if that was your dream car I'm sorry but you need to re-evaluate your taste in cars and keep your opinion to yourself about other peoples taste
Two things: 1. Enough with the age bashing. 2. There's no ****ing way you get to post here and then tell people to keep their opinions to themselves. You should know that by now. It comes down to how much you're interested in having a fun car vs how interested you are in "being different". Being different for the sake of being different very, very rarely ends well. So there's that. If you want to be different and have fun, I'd say get yourself the fun little rwd platform, then take the time and effort to build a stage rally car out of this one and actually run it at the limit like you mean it. Nobody does that.
I owned two cars when i was 19 as well... 1983 G-body Grand Prix LJ, and a 92 Ford Econoline 150 Everyone knows that it's your vehicle and money and you'll do what you see fit with it, but I agree with Surlyoldman. Get a rwd drive car and build it, keep the Subie and have two kick @$$ cars! Oh, and the rwd car has to be a 240sx because im older than you and say so
First off, your definition of "mid life crisis" is vastly different from my own. The 350z replaced my WRX as the 'toy car.' In my world, 'midlife crisis' cars are cars that middle aged men purchase because they are getting old and need something to make them feel youthful because they've been worn down by having a bunch of mouthy kids and ****ty jobs and nagging wives. I have none of those problems. I know, you're 19, and you think you know it all. But some of us actually own more than one car. I don't actually have a "dream car." I like alot of different cars. And would gladly own any number of them should the money and space become available. The Z serves its purpose. Specifically, it serves the purpose of "leisure sports car that the wife and I can go out and do fun things in, has enough power to get stupid on occasion, and looks great." I have the Forester for work, and the Infiniti for when I don't want to drive a ****box Subaru around. I got rid of my other project cars, the WRX and the numerous Datsun 1600 fairladys that we had piled in the garage stalls. I may take on more projects if I feel so inclined. I'm currently piecing together the information to do a Locost7 scratch build. Last year I built a go-kart out of a beer keg. So yeah, shove your "midlife crisis" horse****. Maybe when you're older, balding, and you've squirted out some regrettable clones of yourself, and you're lacing up your tie to go slog away at work, and you're sitting there wishing you could have the fun you had when you were a clueless 19 year old, you'll have a better understanding of what "midlife crisis" means. And hopefully we'll all still be on MNSubaru, so you can come on here between diaper changes and meatloaf, see me still doing the same silly **** that I've always done, and you can wish you were me. And the last person I would take advice on "taste in cars" from is some dip**** teenager that white knights for stance tards on the internet.
If I was at home, I would whip out the meme generator about this being the internet and I can troll if I want to...
Hmmm you called me out for wanting to do a rwd conversion, because it would be some hacked together build. But yet you built a go-kart from a keg and want to do a locost7 build..... Makes sense!
You must have a different definition of trolls than the rest of us here on the board. Gentle advice, quit while you're behind.
Neither of which are my sole source of transportation. Nor did I, at any time, suggest using them as a daily driver.
Yeah I guess so, since all I get called out for is either A. My age or B. That I like "stanced" cars on all of my threads which have nothing to do with either of those topics..
my .02 is just get a rwd vehicle if your moving anyway to a different climate. you'll be spared plenty of headaches .
@T_riggidy, one reason why you might be getting called out for your age is some of your behavior. I will state that it may not be unreasonable behavior for your age (IE you are acting your age). See below for examples... Lets discuss the main reason why this idea is... not the best. The transmission in the wrx is not designed to send all of the power to the back wheels, but to all wheels. Permanently doubling the torque on moving components that were not designed to handle it will result in premature failure. Most of the people here are trying to help you by showing how its not worth your time/energy but just invest in a car designed to do this. You are feeding the fire here... a good lesson for you and @Ryan FailRad is to ignore other people's behavior. People in life are going to **** talk, give you ****, treat you like ****, etc, etc. You have to learn to filter this stuff out or its going to be rough seas ahead. Also, I personally dont believe that a keg go-kart or a locost7 are hacky at all...
Yeah that's what I'm looking to do, because that's what hellaflush, mad tight stancenation people would do!
Good points, but a prime example would be this thread, my photo thread, and my diffuser thread. All of which have nothing to do with the "stance" theme or any of that. Most people give good advice but then readymix chimes in about some unrelated hellaflush comment and ruins it.
@T_riggidy, think of it like this. You are being bear hugged by a lowland silver back gorilla who is a lot bigger and a lot stronger than you. Do you try to wrestle free?
Good point. But do you see where I'm coming from, I'm just asking for knowledge on the conversion, I asked if anyone had the diffuser so I could check it out and I post pictures so you guys can check out my work which I take pride in.
Your tears nourish me. They are the highlight of my day. PROTIP: Don't ask for opinions on a public website if you are just looking for a bunch of affirmation and ass-patting.
You sure about that? That was 30 seconds worth of searching. http://mnsubaru.com/threads/input-on-exterior-modifications.45907/ http://mnsubaru.com/threads/painted-headlights.45717/ http://mnsubaru.com/threads/need-some-rim-input.45427/
Yes. ****ING EVERYBODY sees where you're coming from because we were all there, when we were teenagers. Hence the age "discrimination". You are not unique. You are not a special delicate flower. You are not different. Get the **** over yourself and knock it off with these bull**** threads. I'm putting you in the corner for a week if you can't figure this out on your own. ****.
