As stated in my headlight post, I went back to Green Bay this weekend. They replaced the headlights and adjusted the bumper/headlight/hood so that the gap between the hood and light/grill was even with the driver's side. Before the passenger side was actually making contact with the grill. I think I might finally be done going back for more fixes, but we'll see. They have been pretty nice about all this.
I personally love the look of the orange on blue! Glad that you finally got everything cosmetically finished up on it. GB is a pretty decent trip just to get stuff like that done. I need to go up there this season to see mah Packers.
Yeah I'm pretty pumped to ride around on those wheels a bit whenever spring comes! Thankfully the trip to GB isn't completely out of the way, since my mom lives there - so I just visited for the weekend and came home Sunday.
1) Sold the orange wheels last night -- decided I am just going to go with a black 17x8 RPF1. The slightly lower offset from stock is what I really like, plus they are light weight and I can utilize my factory WRX tires since they're still really good. I don't think it will look too bad with a slight drop. I'll probably order them tonight. 2) My SPT boost gauge is starting to take a crap - what a piece of garbage. The backlight flickers like a strobe constantly. Night driving is not pleasant! Thankfully it's covered under warranty, even though I saw the fix for it was to just replace the bulb. I'll mention that to them while they fix it. 3) Yesterday I did a stupid thing. I backed into my garage and somehow didn't pull the parking brake or leave it in gear. I closed the garage door and went inside for a bit. When I came back out, the first thing I did open the garage door since it was pitch black in there... definitely didn't realize that my car had rolled forward up against the door. One of the door hinges took some of the paint off where my front license plate should be. Really sucks because the front bumper was just repainted in December after the deer incident! 4) On another (happier) note, I'm excited to make the trip back to Green Bay soon so I can pick up my Honda Ruckus. I'm pretty sure the Suby will just sit in the garage most of the summer after that!
Nice looking wheels...just need to paint the chrome on the centercaps. Sorry to hear about the front bumper! Our cars must be closely related. lullz
I actually think they are going to look goofy on stock suspension for a while. I am going to be itching for some coilovers pretty bad. I'm excited for how light they are, even if they won't look awesome. Holding them yesterday, I thought I could toss them a considerable distance. I don't like the silver sides on the center caps, but at $108 for all four, I won't be painting them... For now anyways.
Talk about a kick in the sak. I'd still paint them...not the CF center, just the chrome/SS. A quick scuff, etching primer, and paint and the value could be $30/cap! hahaha
Yeah I know! The design of those wheels really makes them seem small. I'm sure it could have been worse if I would have chosen gold/silver (maybe not, who knows). For this summer (or until the tires are gone) this works for me. I went with these over anything else (Rota) because of the weight difference. I briefly looked into Enkei PF01's in black, which probably would have looked like actual 17's, but decided against them because they were a couple pounds heavier. Also, I'd think it would be easier to sell RPF1's in the future than the PF01 (weight difference, popularity) or a 17" Rota. Control is much more responsive with these than with the wider VarrsToens (as can be expected). I'm crossing my fingers that a slight drop will help out a bit with the size issue. At this point, I'm not ecstatic about them, but I do not hate them.
They look like awesome ones for the winter, something i'm planning on is getting a 2nd set of wheels eventually for winter rubber .
Throw a little 'Tire Shine' on the rubber and they'll look even better! I think they look pretty good! I definitely liked the orange better...but i'm weird like that.
Haha yeah these tires are still pretty dirty. They still had the mud caked between the treads from when I drove into the center grass divide/ditch on the highway to stop the car after deer impact.
Oh! I think I am going to plastidip the center caps - that way it isn't permanent. Opinions needed: Blue, Black, Neo Chrome, or other color lugs??
Nice looking ride. I am a fan of the new purple/blue paint that they have. Green Giant had his STI over the other day, it's a unique color.
Thanks! It definitely is pretty purple. Wish I would have had more time to check it out and enjoy it during lunch.
Passed by Chilson on my way into town from Lax yesterday afternoon - looks like they have the WRX sitting in the lot. The color definitely caught my eye. Stands out like crazy and just looks great! They didn't have a price tag on it yet, but they put the OEM wheels and exhaust back on. They also installed the boost gauge in the silly OEM location. Walked around it quick and they also drilled holes for the front plate and slapped a big old Chilson sticker on the back (looks so out of place). Bummer!
Love the color of the new STi! (note the color of my saabaru lol) I think the navy blue is def a more grown up color for an STi. Anyway, that price sounds a bit high for your old wrx, especially for all it's been through...but thats a dealer for ya.
