Ok Ill admit that i'm the #crazycatladyofbugeyes... Now I have taken the first step, off to search the interwebz for strays.
Got to see this one in person today and in addition to needing pretty much every exterior panel, the throw out bearing is shot so I may pass . Luckily I’ve got my pulse on about a half dozen other Subaru’s that need adopting.
Although the rusty and not trusty RS didn’t work out, I am heading to CO at the end of this week to pick up this beauty. She’s nearly ready (the shop almost has her finished, a few minor details left) and will be ready for the road trip back to IL this weekend.
Maybe. This will primarily be driven by the hubs to balance mileage on the STI. Now I just need a first gen tLeg wagon and my collections complete(ish).
Very nice example of an RS! Good find! If you are on facebook at all, the group Fl4t Tlegs is primarally based in CO, if you are already going to CO, might be wise to pop a WTB post for a Tleg wagon on there and kill both the birds with a singular stone. They are very rare around here and all very rotten.
Thanks, I’ll check it out. I have a contact out there that has been looking for me, he comes across them often but I’m always too late to the party, they sell nearly immediately. It’s gonna be hard to decide what to bring to LAX this year.
this thread has been enjoyable. I started my "addiction" with Subaru's out of necessity--we moved up here to the frozen north on a small farm in middle of nowhere! Soon discovered that many people have these cars so got one for the wife. (I was still driving a very heavy Volvo 740 that absolutely sucked in snow). We were heading home one night on a semi-deserted stretch of road and I swerved like an idiot to avoid hitting a skunk, and we did a 180 and wound up in a snow-filled ditch! That subie went up the ditch like nobody's business when any other car would have been a tow, and I have been a fan ever since! I will say that due to numerous HG issues (2 so far) and expensive parts I am already looking forward to the day when I can retire in a warmer climate and no longer have the need for these wonderful but troublesome cars jim in Rochester
Right? Do I want to take the civic for better acceleration and handling while still getting 28 mpg no matter what, or do I want the Supra so I can take the top off.
Some of these people have it way worse than I would have ever guessed. There needs to be a vaccine developed.
Picked up the 2.5rs today and started my journey back to the midwest. It is far prettier than I expected and near perfect except for a few details here and there. The first 300 miles have been uneventful but after a very long day in CO packed with Subaru excitement (and parts and wagons) I’m calling it a night.
That thing is absolutely beautiful! Don’t be alarmed when you get home...everyone is just there to see the car(including the therapist). Enjoy your trip home.
Thanks! My therapist must of missed the memo because no one was waiting for me . The 1000 mile trip back was incident free and cost a measly $90 in gas (this might become my daily). Driving this little car all day reminded me what made me fall in love with Subaru’s in the first place.
