There's approximately a 0% chance I'd ever pay that for any Subaru other than maybe a 22B at ANY point in time.
I feel like this is purely for exclusivity. That kind of mark up for the upgrades is out of this world.
I wonder what kind of additional dealer extortion, oops, markup is going to be attempted by the bold and the brazen amongst the dealer network...
Here i was thinking: But then also remembered i over-payed for a Mugen Civic Si so.. the exclusivity is neat for sure. But i could also buy 60 crappy wagons for that much lol
Also, I'd rather buy a used C6 Z06 (or similar) and have plenty of money left over for hooning and repairs.
I can be ok paying $50k for a Type RA, but this price with tax would have been more than my RS3. $55k I could see, but $64k is way too much. Especially since I am convinced they put the S209 engine in the Type RA. What Minnesota dealership or dealerships do you think will get one?
New Balance shoes and shin high white socks? I was mainly just thinking of something fun for the track. Realistically I'd rather have a CTS-V. And while we're at it, make it a wagon. With a 6 speed...
So for giggles I filled out the Reserve Yours form, just heard from Morries Minnetonka. They got one and it's already been sold. Who is going to fess up?
Chances are you won't get one anyways, they're only making 209 of them for the US https://www.subaru.com/2019-s209.html
Judging by some of the posts I've seen over there, this is definitely not their style. Plus I doubt 16-20 year olds could afford it.
Yeah $64k puts you in several leagues above anything subaru will ever make. This **** is bananas. I have no doubt crazy people will buy all 209 of them hoping they go up in value. You could get a nice 997 Turbo, V3 CTS-V, ZL1 1LE, GT350R, C7 Z06, a new C8, a new Supra and enough mods to easily go low 10s, an M2 Competition, etc etc etc the list is so long it’s not even funny. Subaru makes sense only in the under $35k price bracket for what you get (chassis, tech, engine, looks, etc). All of these other options are at least 2x-3x the car for the same money. Lol
IIRC it was a red Forester, but Subaru killed the XT variant so I'm assuming it'd be a tarted up Ascent now.
For what it's worth, ours is still available at Morries Minnetonka. We had some interested parties before the price was released and now they're not following up
The Type RA was there for an entire summer with nobody buying it with like 2-3 deals that fell through. It took some crazy asshole (me) that wanted back in a manual and traded in my RS3. An extra $14k on top of the RA seems like this will also be a car on that lot for awhile. But of course, I will go and see it when they get it. Maybe we can get a picture with the RA and the S209? Would probably be the only time those cars would ever see each other. Other than a track of course. Is it white or blue?
I mean, you could say the same thing about any car. Wonder if I could get a pic of it with my bugeye wagon...
Just announced pricing from my new car manager. We will be selling ours for $750 below invoice. MSRP = $65,727 Invoice = $61,505 Morries Best Price = $60,755 Our incoming S209 is due sometime in December and is WRB. Mike
Type RA and 2019+ share the identical engine but the S209 has larger turbo built by HKS, higher flow fuel injectors, different fuel pump, and conical intake. It actually has more in common with the NBR 24 hour challenge car. Hence the price...
If my current self, with my current tastes, suddenly had '**** you' money, I'd buy it. If I had led a different life in which I could currently afford one of these, I'd probably not be interested in Subarus.
The amount of reddit and forum posts about the dealers getting these the past few days and how they are all already sold blows my mind. I'm stupid and still really like Subarus, but why the hell would you buy this over something like a C8 Vette, Pcar, etc...
