So I'm getting a killer deal for a set of 4 beand new falken 615's ---$150 shipped to my door!! Only thing I don't like is the 45 vs the 40 of my current tire's aspect ratio. I'm currently running 225/40/18 dunlop 901-sp's that suck and ride horrible and howl like a monkey. I'd like some more beef between my 18x8 prodrive PFF7's and the road. I know the azenizs run large also, 225s are more of a 235 width. here is a wagon similar to mine with the same width wheels running the same 225/45/18 tires. here is a profile picture, notice that the sidewall isn't streched, my current tires are narrow enough for me to touch the top edge of the rim. Sidewall is slanted like this // anyone think I should buy a set of kumho spt 235/40/18 tires instead?? They run $500 as opposed to $150
it will slightly change the speed at which you are traveling vs. the speed your speedometer reads, and you will probably need to roll the fender lip. I don't think your post was really a question though....so I just answered what I think you are asking.
yeah I guess I'm debating between the kumhos in the more "correct" size or the falkens in a bit taller tire
i am currently running 235\45\17 KDWs (2nd gen.) on my 07' WRX. I have had them for about 500 miles. No problems!
I think that you will be fine. you will probably need to pull out the fender alittle bit but thats about it. I just sized up my falken 225.45.17s on my GC (stock size is 195/60/15) they will fit fine (I already rolled my fenders) but will rub on my mudflaps...
the 45 series is a taller tire. not only will it throw off your spedo, it will slow your acceleration, and increase braking distance. going to a taller tire than stock is usually not a very good thing to do, with the rare exception of lengthening a gear for autox/racing purposes.
i am running 225/45 -18 on my lowered wagon, and dont have any rubbing issues, from what i can tell my speedo is right on
You might be able to get by just by using your hands to pull out on the fender alittle bit. nothing serious. I used a actual fender roller and I still have about 3/4"+ of room between the edge of the tire and my fender.
225/45-17 will be no problem with the right offset. I am running 245/45-17 V710s on 8" wheels and they fit the rear with a bit of rolling (ignoring the other problems I have due to offset). However, they rub a bit on the inside up front...
Everyone knows I'm running 18's correct?? NOT 17's I pm'ed the guy on nasioc that has these tires on his wagon and he said they don't rub and he never rolled the fenders.
Eh, just grab them. Then figure out what to do from there. You may end up playing with camber a bit if you end up rubbing the fender. I don't know. The Kumho SPT is a very different tire, a better(civil) all-around daily tire but definately a level down on grip. However, you'd love the SPT in the wet. A thread I made over on Nasioc a while ago copying the SubaruForester.org fitment thread. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1325756 hopefully you can get an idea of what will fit on your car.
no you will not have to roll your fenders unless you are running a crazy offset, mine get nowhere neer the fenders ever, and mine is lowered 2 inches.
