What happens in the car while you're driving is your own business. We don't need to know.

I left early. Couldn't find the guy I borrowed the MNSOC radio from, so I put it on his car's seat. Red WRX (06-07?). 99% confident the guy I got the radio from was that guy's car.

I had a great time. Kind sad that I popped the bead on my tire and wasnt able to complete that run group. I really like this venue. I have found that I really like pin turns :).

Had a great time today! Besides the fact that my power steering pump took a dump, and some undertray got ripped off. :D

Course was way better than Raceway Park IMO.

PS: Sheen's car smells like rotten eggs. ;)

Wasn't my favorite venue. I don't know **** about designing a course and couldn't have done better then what was there, so I have no real justification in complaining. I just felt like it didn't flow very well. But I guess I'm spoiled in that the majority of the events I've done have been at the gigantic soybean field/track. And those layouts have been super smooth, flow fast, are exciting to watch and ran pretty efficiently.

the pinsd were challenging but not exciting for the "crowd". the only one that was really good was the first one. watering the course was a bad idea, yes i understand why it was done, but it still sucked. i liked the course, it held up well. i'm holding my judgment on best couse till i can do corcron.

I had an awesome time today, met lots of you and was finally able to put some faces to the names. Looking forward to the next event and closing some of that gap to first and second.

I like the surface of the track as long as it's not wet, but would love to do something about the walls. I think that we made the best of it today with the extra pin turn, maybe an option for the future would be to keep the course inside the bowl and not try to go through the fence? I know it would be a shorter course, but it might be a better course if we didn't have to worry about people going too fast through the gates.

Also, is the motocross track there all season, or do they only make it for the fair? Just wondering if we had an option of moving any of that mass from the center section to give us more potential for track layouts?

Cory (sp?), let me know if you are going to try that power steering pump this week, we might be able to do it at my friend Jorge's place, he has air tools and a big garage.

Thanks to everyone that showed up and ran the event. Yes, the watering was done to appease the car show folks....and that was "not ideal" for us....but oh well.

If we're able to use the venue in September we will NOT have to water the course....

That was a very interesting course.

Pin wheel turns: heavy car + mild understeer setup = fail turn.

Clay (wet + dry): boy oh boy I have no idea what tires would work well on this stuff. I was expecting packed, so I brought my LM25s, great when dry, fail when wet. There was a 25 second difference in time between dry and wet for me, lol. I may end up bringing my ContiExtremeWinter Contacts next time if the water will be used regularly. How'd your Winterforces feel on this stuff? Anybody run a tire they actually found decent when the track was hosed down? This kind of surface (and events early spring and late fall) make me want to try out some super thin setup at some point like a 175 or 185 tire, although not much out there outside of a cargo van tire that'll fit on a 16" rim. There are some winter van tires available at that width and still in the 25"-26" diameter like Firestone's Vanhawk, Hankook's Radial RA10, Continental VancoWinter, or Pirelli's Citinet Winter Plus. Being cargo van tires, the load index is up around 100 even at these widths. It's these muddy, slippery surfaces that keep making me curious about trying out such a package on a rally-x car. I know narrow is good for this kind of stuff and very common in the off-road use.

I kind of agree with Topher , that it would have been nice to have it a little more flowing, but I do understand that flowing and safe don't want to play very well together at that venue (noting one close fence call at the end of the flowing slalom). If we could use more of the inside motox area so it wouldn't be so tight, it would be better, but honesty, I think that venue is too tight to hold a great rallyx, but I would defiantly go back cause I like coming into work and my supervisor telling me my car is dirty and offering to turn on the sprinklers.

Thanks to the organizers that made it possible!

The watering was a mixed bag. When it was soaking wet there was no grip out there at all. However as it started to tack up it became pretty dang fast out there. When it was bone dry it became tricky again since it was like pavement. I considered running my RE070s if they werent going to water the last run group. Over all I had a good time and would for sure go back, I had a lot of fun rotating around the pin turns, perhaps too much fun. I want a pin turn slalom.

Have you checked out Nokians site? they make aggressive winter tires for vans and trucks, and have a decent size selection. Also you can get them in a similar tread design as the snow tires with a harder all-season compound if you want. I think that a all-season tire with the tread design for clearing like a snow would be ideal since they would clear mud but also not collapse when its gets dry.

Also Thanks again to J.Rex and ScandiaWRX for letting me borrow tools to get my tire back on!

I liked the venue, got bored last night and threw together a little video featuring the "Saddilac" as well as the ZRT 858 car along with some random photos. Took quite a few pictures although none are spectacular (Im not claiming to be a photographer by any means) but if anyone wants a picture just PM me with your car # and email address and I will see what I have. Oh and btw, sign up to work Nemadji III this Saturday! It's a great day in the woods

If you compete in larger events and already have the car badged with a triple digit number, then an exception can be made for you. I [sometimes] compete in national NASA events, always with the same number, and I already have pre-fabricated numbers for my car, thus an exception was made for my triple digit number. Another example of an exception is any competing Rally America vehicle.

During registration I queried about the triple digit numbers thing and the reply I received was along the lines of: we don't want people to have longer numbers, like 1111111... [obviously]. This really doesn't make sense to me because they could just limit it to three digits total and make everyone happy, idk.

Great event and really fun surface! Thanks for putting this together!

On my 3 dry runs the sidewalls felt really really squishy. On my 3 wet runs they felt non-responsive. Maybe bc my wheel speed was so slow and the tread just got packed with mud. Oh well, at least they felt good in the outfield.

Great, great venue! Only minor complaints, which were discussed already (too much water basically). I'd love to go back there again, as long as we can keep it tacky. We also should incorporate that small puddle next time that was next to the 2nd pin turn. Saw at least one car splash through it by accident and was fun to watch!

Big thanks to the Isanti County Fair planners, Dave for sittin in the hot box and announcing, and to the time control people for keeping that many competitors flowing constantly!

And nice vid, Headrush! I'll be pm'ing you for more photos!

I think it takes a more specific tire than that. I'm not new to a number of winter tires and have driven on the Blizzak LM25, Nokian WR, ContiExtremeWinterContact, Wintersport M3, Ultragrip GW3, and Blizzak WS50. While these tires can offer good grip in a range of surfaces, I keep feeling that there are certain instances that really require a different approach. Nokian's smallest winter van tire is 195. Other brands offer narrower options down to 175 on a 16" rim that is still at the 25"-26" diameter sizing. I just really have a hankering to try out one of the options and see how it performs and holds up with rally-x. They'd probably gets great highway mileage too, lol.
