Well, last weekend I aquired a complete (f&b) set of 2005 wrx seats for my car. I like the all black look as apposed to the stock 02-03 seats that were in my car.
I am very happy with the seats both in the astetic aspect as well as a more "raw"driving feeling if you wil.

Anyways, the question I am faced with is that the 04-05 usdm seats did not come equiped with the air bags built in to them. Which leads to my air bag light being on all the time. I was doing a little research on this and cannot find a clear answer about how to disable the light. I do not want to pull the cluster and remove the airbag led as I would like to know if I actually have any airbag issues.

So, the question is this, does anyone know a way to "fix" this? Some sort of resistor?

Thoughts, questions, and opinions are greatly appreciated.

The car is a 2002 wrx

Yep. Jason's is on too. He decided it was too much work to fix it.

If it is too much work to fix, then it will remain.
Just nice to know if there ever IS an issue with the air bags lol.

Um, the 04-05 seats do have an airbag in them, that is why my light is on. Because the Sparcos I replaced them with don't have airbags. There should be a wire underneath them. Are you sure they are authentic WRX seats? They should have a tag on the sides that says "SRS airbag" or something of that nature.

And I have the resistors, but I don't remember exactly how many I needed. But it was just a matter of putting them in where the airbag connects.

They are 3.3ohm resistors. Use the 1/4watt variety from Radio Shack, the leads on them should slip right into the connectors. And that's 3.3OHMs not 3.3K Ohms.

**EDIT** and yes, that's how lazy I am about this, it would take me all of about 30 seconds to put those in there I think.

this is the best way to do it. no wire cutting. simple and u know that there is no problem with the air bag system

Correct, but my only suggestion here would be to use electrical tape to make certain it doesn't come out. Simply lay a strip over the top of it, then wrap it around the connector to keep it there.

I know where you speak of with the srs (just like my 02-03 seats)... I was told that the 04-05's had side curtain airbags and not the ones built into the seats... I am guessing my informant was wrong about that one... Hmmm... I wonder what these seats are out of then...

Thanks for the help here everyone :)

So, in my search to verify if my seats were "legit" or not, I came accross this thread

    http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1961449

Ordering a pack. Is this a good deal for resistors? Could I but them locally for a better price?

    *Edit*
Found out the seats are RS seats
Not too worried tho as I really like the way they look in my car
    :)

Sigh, swindled by a sketchy azin

Just buy the resistors at Radioshack, 10 bucks is rape for 2 resistors.

    if they have 3.3 ohm...

just go to radioshack, it's like 5 for a buck and they should have them.

Yeah, radioshack is where I will be heading.

I mean, maybe driving down to the cities will offset the cost?! lol

Thanks for the input and advice everyone.
