    Hey fellas,

I'm getting my wheels this week, and don't want them stol'd. I'm putting some 04 BBS wheels on my 02 WRX.

What do I need to know about security lug nuts?
Is there any difference in the manufacturers?
Do I need a special style?

    Thanks,

    pics for da clicks.

Kinda sucks when you lose the key, but you can get around it. This also makes them more of an inconvenience than a deterent for theives.

    Price.

    Just ones that fit.

I have some Subaru wheel locks (came with the car) I'd sell for $10 if yr interested.

It's only a deterrent to casual thieves. Pros will just have the key already, since they're not hard to acquire. And they're a pain to use. But I guess if I had a really spendy set of wheels, I'd probably do it to. I had no choice with my old wheels, as they used special style lugnuts which were spline drive keyed only.

Oh, and whatever you get, don't get "Dorman" brand lugs or locks (this is the brand typically sold at auto stores like checker and Autozone). They're crap. Pure crap.

Ask Kelly (snbrd4evr) or Nordlie about my experiences with those.

Oh, and once again, I just have to say:

    I have Gorilla nuts.

    I just like saying that.

I like my Rays. The locking ones dont look any different than the other 4 lugs but you need a special bit to remove them.

Any of the spline drive nuts are good. I've had McGard, Gorilla, and now Rays.

Summit sells a set of McGuards in gold colored chrome with matching chrome valve stems for your bling wheels ;) 'bout $90.

Or you can get a set of plain old Gorilla chrome ones for $30. The Gorilla ones will work just fine, but in my experience, the chrome is thin and you'll start to get a little rust. Probably not what you want with those wheels.

    http://www.gorilla-auto.com/the.system

    This is what I use.

24 matching spline drive locks with a unique key pattern that only you have. Once your car and name are registered with Gorilla only you can order additional keys if needed.

Great security, good piece of mind. ~$70 for the set. I special ordered mine in open ended nuts for use with extended studs, and on the track.

    are they real hairy???

seriously... I wouldnt spend the money.... I just took a set of a Ford in about 3 mins.... at work of course...

same as the spline drive nuts.. 99% of them are the same spline.. I have used my key on Tangled's car and some other manufacturers vehicles..

if it's for simple piece of mind. go for it... but that's about all it is good for
