A long time ago I bought a Perrin Short shift Kit. Just got around to putting it in last night. Problem is, anytime i try to shorten the throw It rubs on a metal frame piece in there and its hard to get it into first. Any idea on what to do? Perrin short shift kit a bad choice?
I've seen this on a couple of the short throw kits. Honestly, just take a dremel and dremel out a bit of the front left metal corner of the shift surround.
http://scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205 it mentions either loosening that frame piece and sliding it forwards and left, or pulling it out and filing it down a bit.
Yeah, that was the tutorial I was thinking of. Loosening the bolts and moving the surround up and left is a great idea.
Or, remove the piece of metal that it's hitting and turn it 180 degrees...I know I read that somewhere. On mine (not a Perrin adjustable, just a gimmick sts) i just filed a bit of the metal off where it was hitting.
I think I broke the metal tab things off mine and rotated it 180 degrees. Found out right away with my cobb short throw that it wasn't gonna work the way it was.
Well, took it off last night and grinded it down. Works great now! The throw is super short. Almost too short.
