Got the car back on the road, still have some issues but hopefully will be fully fixed in a few days. Talked with subaru and they were tremendously unhelpful. The dealership SOMEHOW has in their paperwork that I traded in a modified audi and that is the reason for nothing being done. Even with me scanning and showing them the sale paperwork. Either way.... If I were you, I would stay the hell away from Muscatell Subaru. Hopefully this will give someone else a bit of advice of what not to do and save them the headache.
Glad to hear that it's at least back on the road mang! Hopefully you get the last of the bugs worked out soon.
Been a while. Finally got her finished. Ron tuned her today and I had him stop at 340hp-390tq to the wheels. That is plenty! Tuned for 92 and e85. Kinda sad that she is all fixed. Well I'm sure something will happen, knowing my luck. As usually, great work by RS Motors. Special thanks to Matt and Ron.
Just saw this thread for the first time... I bought an '07 in January from a dealer in Nebraska only to find out a couple weeks later that it had low compression and a cracked ringland (cyl 4) along with two scored cylinders (cyl 2 & cyl 4) so I know your pain. I got the dealer to give me $800 back towards repairing it, but as I'm sure you know that didn't take me far. I now have it up and running with CP pistons and Manley rods. I am doing just a little data logging on the stock tune and plan to retune very soon. If my trans takes a crap on me now I may park it under a nice big tree in a logging field. haha jk
Btw... I am from Moorhead and know a few of the guys at Muscatell Subaru pretty well. The guys I know are good guys and are active members on this forum. It truly surprises me to hear you have had a bad experience with them, and extra surprised that they would claim you traded in a car other than what you actually traded in.
Yes, it was a shady job from the dealership's used car sales. It is well documented by me and talked with SOA (which is a waste of time). None the less, it is over with and all I can do is say, don't buy from there. There were many times I wanted to throw a match in the car and walk away. lol
Buying a used, performance-oriented Subaru is like marrying a porn star...you love what it can do, but there are always hidden "surprises".
Between ringland and headgasket failures that statement can be extended to most Subaru models. Should have bought a Tribeca. OP - I'm glad you are back on the road and hopefully for a ton of miles.
