They meant this guy Putz. He is under the impression that an S4 is some baller car when it is not. The S4 is a terrible attempt to compete with BMW and their functioning electrical systems. The fact that the owner/driver of said car is a douche and calls it stage 3 like anyone knows what that means is even worse.

^^ I really don't know what was said, sound like this guy (driver) was an asshat.

Personally, i love audi's and a S4 can be made a realllllyy fast car that is incredibly smooth and plush...all at the same time. :yumyum:

yeah, i won't disagree, but on the other hand there's a number of expensive cars that go to the crapper if not taken care of....

I've only been in 3 S4's, all of which have been modified and all were in great shape. All of them are still on the road...shiny...and fast:yumyum:

side note- chet, you have no intelligence when it comes to car maitenance so you best go lay by your dish.:laugh:

Right, but if you are going to buy an S4 and dump a lot of money into it just buy the RS4. It is like being able to afford an STi yet buying a WRX and modding it....you know, aside from the fire hazards.

    insurance costs
    wanting to modify a car
price point of car when purchased

there's a huge difference between a S4 sticker price and an RS4 sticker price. Most of the modded S4's I've seen have been from 2001 when they had the 2.7 twin turbo...did they offer a RS4 in the US back then? I honestly don't recall.

Actually, a stg3 S4 is a pretty damn nice car. Like Steve mentioned, good power and a nice smooth pull. You may not know what stg3 means since you don't seem to follow Audi's but the people that care to know, do. I've owned my STI for 2 years now and still can't figured out what stg 3++++ means.

The RS4 wasn't out at the time for starters. Then there's the rather small price to upgrade to the K04s snails and other bits (stg 3) compared to buying a new RS4. People make that exact same arguement for the STI vs WRX.

^^^The only thing I can add is this....

All three of the s4's I've been in are faster than most of the wrx's I know of.

My buddies S4 will always stand out as my favorite. 2001 S4 2.7TT modified to the hilt. At over 10,000 feet he was safely pushing 27 psi and we slammed the needle past the 170mph limit. (and it felt like we were doing 100). 450+ at the wheel...dynoed at 5,000+ feet in elevation.

every car can have issues...most of the time it boils down to owner = negligence.

Yep, and there's a 600awhp s4 wagon lurking in the twin cities.

S4s actually get more reliable when modded as the k03's are failure prone crap. The rest of the motor (based on the 2.8 which is a tank, a tank that leaks oil, but a tank none the less) is pretty sout.

This driver sounds like me, except I don't own an audi ;)

just found another audi owner to add to the list. some kid busing his friends around the edina, EP area in his black s4 with exhaust. came up behind me with his bright ****ing lights making my eyes hurt. tailed me really close and then as soon as room was made in the lane next to me he pulls up and starts to get me to race him with a car right in front of him..... wtf. he exited later while blowing right from the fast lane at the last second. i really HATE that. i think its just youth and really nice cars. the "im a fast str33t racer now that my parents bought me this nice car" idea just gets backed up more and more. would i love that car?... YEP!....would i make real audi enthusiests look bad by driving like i stole it?....h3llz nah!

This whole thing with Erik and being nice is reminding me of the second season of Rescue Me when Leary is taking his wifes anti depressants and is suddenly nice and bringing in coffee and pastries to the firehouse and being nice to the Probie and being a wimp at the hockey game between the cops and firefighters. I'm waiting for him to snap back to the Erik I know (and <3) and bring things back to normal by killing someone with a dose of solid sarcasm.
