Okay, to start off I had my car in at the Subaru dealer in Brooklyn park last month or so and had the water pump and timing assembly changed, because it developed a coolant leak from a failing water pump. I got the car back and everything was good for a couple of weeks. I then got under the car the change the oil and noticed that the front of the oil pan had a nice film of oil on it, as well as the surrounding area. So i cleaned it all up and changed the oil, drove it around a little bit to see if there was any new oil that seemed to be dripping down from somewhere, But there was not, so I just drove it to about 20 miles and now there is oil all over the front part of the oil pan again and oil dripping from the rubber coolant line on the water pump,, but I can not see where the oil is coming from. I am wondering where by the oil pump would the oil be dripping from and could the mechanics at the dealer have knicked something or missed an O ring of some kind when they had the front of the car apart to change the water pump and timing assembly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Welcome to having an old Subaru. Potential leaks: Front Crank Seal (Yes, somewhat accessible inside the timing cover). Oil Pump Seal (RTV between pump and block) Oil Pan Seal (RTV again) Oil Cooler Seal (Rubber O-ring) Camshaft Seals (Obviously) AVCS Lines and Solenoids. Is it possible they nicked something? Sure. But it may have had a slight leak before they got the car. Have you contacted them to see if they noticed the leak and could help to pinpoint it?
I have not talked with them to see if they noticed anything yet. I mean there could have been a leak before I brought it to them, but the motor was rebuild due to a spun rod bearing like 12,000 miles ago so all of those seals are pretty new, minus the cam seals because we did not take the heads apart.

Ha, I wasn't hoping to get anything out of the dealership. I was merely wondering since the short block has a little more than 10k miles on it, and all of those seals/rtv spots had just recently been re done. I know that one of them could have failed, but with 10k miles I just wanted to have a guess at if maybe they ****ed something up when they were in there.
Given the little information you are doling out in small pieces at a time, I'd say anything is possible. Try talking to the dealership first. They may recall seeing a leak and help direct you to the right place.
