That is a pretty mean TQ curve. Those numbers arnt half bad. I would be very happy with them. IIRC when I dynoed my 2.2l w/ Turbo (not tuned, super rich) I only made 113whp, but 143wtq. Read as: EJ257 w/ 11:1 CR tuned > EJ22E 9.5:1 CR w/ 4lbs boost, untuned.

yea the tgv's were holding closed :hsugh:
too bad the car is a pig!
    yes, the TQ is ftw!
it doesn't drive halfbad. ok, it's really bizzare coming from the turbo but it's not awful. I hammer the gas, it gets really loud, the car moves forward a bit. 3rd gear pulls nice. This won't be bad for stage rally at all!

pfft, I was close, but didn't want to copy Andrew :). Glad it all worked out and the car didn't blow up :eek4:.

Numbers are about what I expected. Very very similar to the new 2.5i numbers. Hell, even the torque curve looks very similar.

Ron says there is more left in it. It needs a bigger exhaust from the manifold to the catback first

we did at one point climb up to the 150 range for TQ but it must have been a bit lean

Haha, guess I should've guessed the exact same numbers posted in that NASIOC thread. I'd be the winner of a shiney new photo shoot..

HAHA +1 to this. I know that feeling. Going from actually having some power/torque to having 1/2 of it is disappointing to say the least. You have joined the club of "the car sounds like its going 100mph, but its only going 30"

What manifold are you running, btw?

Also, have you considered one of these?

Oh, so you are running a turbo exhaust manifold? Can you run an aftermarket unit at all with your rules?

sure but spending a few hundred bucks for a few more hp isn't worth it. the entire point of this engine is just to move us down the stage in a slowish, safe, non competative way so we get our coefficients and return next year with a $10,000 engine that will propel us into a tree ;)

well, not quite like that but you get the idea lol. This is really just a training engine. Once we go full competative it will be different

The biggest thing was that Carls car works and nothing out of the ordinary happened, besides the initial start-up issues. Carl will drive it hard at our next TSD rally on the 14th to see how he can handle driving the car with 1/2 the power.....

I'm actually convinced it will be just fine.

From I'm told by rally guys, a season in a low power car is the best thing for you, as you learn to not rely on power to carry you through corners. Proper speed-carrying techniques are learned as a result.

yeah, we've heard the same message loud and clear.

our goal this year is to survive and make the required points, then next year we'll focus on a strategy to be a bit more competitive.

yea, I'd rather mess with mechanical than electrical - much simpler to go back next year (building a crazy motor for next year)

I like how the hp and tq cross like that. Very good usable power there Carl. Looks like left foot braking and right foot planted might be a good combo. LOL
