Average 40mpg, highway you will get more. Do you have more than 4 paper grocery bags with you in the car on regular basis? ). I am sure it will do 90mph and wont fall apart. And anyway where are you planning on going 90? I have not see a high way where the speed limit is anywhere close to 90.
Try 65k+, and my main comparison is to a C5 which you can get for about as much as a number of the Smarts I saw in WA. I'd put a Z06 above a Smart for practicality. You really want to show you care about the enviroment? Bike to work. Buy a diesel. A microcar that is really more of a hazard on the road than anything else doesn't impress me.
Smart car is safe. It passed all highway safety tests thats why its legal here. And i do think that people her in US should think more about the environment. I am tired of seeing huge SUVs like suburbans and Tahos with only one person in them. I think they are a hazard not Smart. They are useless gas guzzlers.
The smarts arent unsafe per se, at least they didn't feel that way when I was driving them. Well, the old fortwo convertible was unsafe but they'd never sell that here. But the point is you want good gas mileage, suck it up and get a daewoo nubira, a chevy aveo, a late eighties / early nineties honda or toyota small car and you can do just as well and pay many thousands less. Like the mini, the advertised price of a base smart is thousands less than they actually cost. With how popular those are going to be in their first few years in the usa I guarantee every car that hits the shore will be buried in dealer added options that push the sticker as high as it can go. and you can drive a z06 on the highway in 6th gear and get a real world 32mpg. Theyre insanely overdriven in 6th.
When I spent some time in Europe these things were all over! They are really small in person. I know In europe they make a convertable one hahahah! I think it is a good idea bringing them to the states!
I will not disagree about the C6 and the gas mileage because i dont know much about them. But you might be right about dealer added cost all of that. One of the reasons why i would want to get one is because i think it looks cool and is stylish which is something that most of Midwestern people dont know. Girls in midwest wear pajamas to the mall and classes. 90% of the girls here dont even know what is style. You go to russia and girls there are amazingly hot, and mostly because they dont eat Macdonald's burgers for breakfast and know how to dress sexy. If girl dresses sexy and stylish here everyone will say that she is a whore. Same with may other things. Stylish and cool things are not always practical.
When I was in Toronto 2 years ago the Smart car and the Toyota Echo were the chick cars. I see it being the same in a few years. Are they going to be selling them through the Mercedes Dealerships, because I want to drive one and I'm sure Duluth wont get a dealership.
so not to get on you or anything, but you are all sensitive about the environment and such but are going to buy a WRX then have asked me about what exhausts are around or that I could build which all help in expelling MORE exhaust out of your car, which you will modify, and probably end up removing at least one if not all 3 cats.....?!?!?!?! Doesnt make a lot of sense if you care that much about the environment... and besides what does the smart car run on....??? ELECTRICITY.... how do we get ELECTRICITY???? by killing the ozone with Nuclear or coal powerplants.. its a vicious circle my friend... besides the earth is design / CREATED to regenerate itself.... and if we are so worried about ozone then more people should stop smoking, eating taco bell and drinking beer.. all which either kills us or gives us gas which kills the ozone...
I am not all about the environment, but i am concerned about it. There is a real threat of global warming. And if you are going to say that this is all bull **** and the earth will regenerate itself and ice melting in north pole is all bull crap, you have your head deep in the ground. I've done quite a bit of research on global warming and electrical cars. Even if all the car will be substituted with EV cars and will be powered by coal grid it is still way less damaging than all of the gas powered cars. Nuclear energy has zero emission. The only problem with nuclear energy is that we dont know what to do with with the leftover "fuel", but very soon we will figure that out. By the way smoking is pretty much baned everywhere now.
emission is also somethign that leaks.. or is emitted.. you know like all those barrells dumped in the ocean yada yada yada.... I dont care.. I wont be around in 80yrs, I will enjoy today, and if I wake up tomorrow I will enjoy that day too.... if not, then why would I care... when I start growing a third nipple like Ray then maybe I will worry about what I am eating or breathing yada yada yada... its an inconvenient truth..... like this.... :laugh:
