If you wait until snow... All the tire shops are gonna be busy as hell (i speak the truth) to many people wait until the last minute to get tires... then it takes 6 hours to get a set mounted... I would do it as soon as possible. The temps are cold enough to where your snow tires wont be hurt
^^^ if you drive alot then wait.. but if not you will be just fine. maybe wait until the teamps are consistanly below 45 deg
Mounted mine Saturday with help from the fellas.(Etchy, Shibbs, Subaru4) Before & Afterz...Blizzak LM-22 Runflats.
Well I gave in and put my winter tires on today. Thought I would wait for snow but what the heck its kinda nice doing it while I can still feel my fingers.
had mine on for like a month now! I cant believe you are running Wedsports in the winter. arnt those kinda spendy to sacrifice to hidden curbs and salt spray? Tangled: you really need to lower your car.
Put mine on last week wednesday. I also put in the uncle scotty mix. Note to self: Don't ever flush tranny oil when it's freaking freezing outside ever again!
put mine on this weekend. I was kickin and screaming the whole time...not wanting to put them on. However, after a 10 minute drive with the winters I realized how crappy my summers were actually handling in the cold temps. So I guess I'm happy
Mine went on last tuesday, Had a flat and a low tire so I swapped on a set of the Hankook Winter iPike.
Mounted my Winter Set yesterday. Forgot what it was like to drive a marshmellow Goodyear UltraGrip Ice on 16" Stockers
Yeah, yeah. Hopefully next spring. AGX+ProDrive springs...the usual. One more winter of normal ride height. Then it will become a snow plow. Btw, my friend and I were watching that episode of Pimp My Ride w/the GC. My buddy was like, "Isn't that your friend, Martin's car?" Lol. The real funny stuff was the paintball storage compartment in the trunk. It was a good laugh.
I have mods that will not allow me to make many adjustment wondering what it will do to my winter ride/control capabilities. . Tokico Dspecs - can adjust to full soft . Subie Pinks heavy rating - NOT adjustable but ride hieght about stock . White Line 22 mm adjustable sway bar rear - set as soft as it goes . Camber adjustments within stock range How bad will these mods impact winter driving? Do I need to warn the wife?
i noes 3rik, that's what I'm sayin'. Snow plow if lowered. I agree the front looks too high though. Maybe hydraulics for tha w1n!? Air-ride...hehehe.
mine sits even... I riced the coils... yes a I CUT a coil out of the fronts.. I ride on stock suspension and never had an issue
its nice cause you can cut a coil out of the wrx springs and it doesnt even affect teh comfort ride of the spring or car... but drops the front down almost an inch
lol nice. but my car isnt that ricey. prodrives will be nice you should be fine. the only issue comes with ground clearance but if you have some decent tires or snow tires it doesnt really matter unless you are in snow which is over 8" deep.
I've read that stiff bars provide worse traction on slippery surfaces. To what extent I've got no clue. It doesn't seem like you went extreme with the bar though
Brrrr... I just got done putting the Blizzak's on the GF's Tiburon. Brrrr... Took the Rota/Wanli combo off (summer only). http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse...141942&InfoID=4278&ShowLarge=True&SnipID=4286 I like them. Nice riding, nice cornering, not quiet though. Turn the tunes up, noise gone.
the driveway is drifting here from all the snow blowing off the lake. close to a foot deep drifts in spots, but grass in other spots.
Well, since they are calling for 8-12" in the Metro area this weekend I am going to have to get mine on this weekend for sure (thank GOD for a heated garage) before the work week starts up again. I have been waiting for more snow than just a dusting and good cold weather to put mine on since I drive about 70 miles a day for work.
Tonite - er, last night now - AFTER I slid into a guard rail on my way to LegacyPGT's to put the new ones on. I think that's called irony... Anyone got a line on a front passenger side quarter panel for an 02 wrx wagon? (Sedona Red would be icing on the cake.)
I put my big ones on about a month ago. Swapped out the 225's for the far more effective (in snow) 195s yesterday. Went from a M3 Wintersport to a Graspic DS-2. Graspics are FAR more squirmy than the Wintersports.
About $150 from Morries BP or MTKA with MNSubaru discount. Welle auto on Central can get you the paint you'll need and even put it in a can for you. Ask me how I know... :ugh:
Thanks, Vector. The paint part was the bit I needed most (was guessing Morries on the panel). At the risk of a hijack: "How'd you know?"
Cliff notes: Subaru headlight vs. Chevy Fullsize bumper. Chevy 1, Subaru 0 Destroyed the headlight which pushed back and rippled the fender. Wasn't snow related, was just a stupid mistake.
Ouch. Maybe this'll help: My best friend bought a new 99 Outback Sport. That winter in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness in the U.P. of Michigan he and another friend happened across a brand new Durango stuck in the snow trying to get out of an unplowed trailhead parking lot. The guy had bombed into the parking lot to impress his girlfriend. While the girlfriend sat unimpressed in the Durango the three guys tried everything to get the truck out: digging, pushing, branches/sand under tires, etc. No dice. Finally they decided that while there wasn't much hope of it working, they did have a tow strap so they'd try to pull the Durango out with the Outback Sport. The OBS hauled the Durango onto the road like it was no thing at all. My best friend drove away impressed having not figured it would work. Durango-man was very grateful to be unstuck. The girlfriend, well, I guess she still looked pretty unimpressed when they drove away. Sometimes Subaru wins.
Yep, busy night tonight. Leaving the all seasons on one car for a bit longer, but putting the winters and storage tires on the rest.
