it helps if your riding a lot of rails to make sure you de tune your edges. Also knees slightly bent and be like a spring to ABSORB the kinks... had a bad wreck last year that pretty much put me out for the entire day.

I hardly got to ride last and i really really want to get out and ride this. I'm thinking a season pass some place might not be a half bad idea.

Wild MTN is having DEMO days this weekend. I know my wife (and maybe me) will be out there. She has a K2 board that she wants to demo before we pick it up from the rep on monday. So just an FYI you can ride this weekend. You can even check out new gear before you buy it.

oh, yeah I don't know if i would do it. if you live in brainerd... hell i would just find some good hills or farm land and hike. i guess you have to wait for mother nature to make that snow.

yeah, a bunch of the instructors @ afton... mainly my roommate and other buddy (k2 rep) go to the ice rinks throughout the year and fill the back of the bed of a truck with ice shavings. then set up boxes and ride when ever and where ever. they just shave the ice off and dump it out back to melt. that is when we go and scoop it up to ride.

    tools needed:
    Truck
tarp to cover ice once in the truck
shovel to put ice in and out of truck
    ice rink to provide ice
    boxes to slide

    snowboards, friends and a hill

The Bird Rocks! Great terrain. I've been going there for the last few years; when am I gonna just move there? And Utah powder is like no other, dry and lofty and tons of it. Oh wait... I mean it sucks! MN snow is better.

I second this. They are cool to see in videos, but I hate videos that are 50%+ rails. I would rather see park and big back country hits/riding.

See, because I grew up skateboarding, I like watching rails. I also like backcountry and park too. If its equally mixed in a video, im happy

This was the facebook update today:

Afton Alps We need cold weather! Hoping to make some snow tonight. Opening date/time still TBD. Please check out our website for more information.

Tony and Will I know that you were talking about going out this weekend. If you go hit me up. I am always down to ride. As of right now it looks like we need a few nights of 32 or lower to be able to ride. the day temp won't matter too much. As well i have yet to get an email telling me to come to work.

Just bought my ticket to Colorado today, it was super cheap through Southwest, $195 round trip. And since it's through Southwest, 2 bags are free (I called to confirm, even your snowboard bag is free!)

    Getting stoked!

Non-stop to Denver. Then I'll either be taking the CME, renting a car for a day, flying, or taking a Greyhound to Aspen. Luckilly there are plenty of options to get to Aspen once you are at the Denver airport.

I'll be staying at Snowmass Village for free! Now I just gotta buy those lift tickets.

    Afton update to instructors

    Update – 11.27.09

    By nick | November 27, 2009

    Guys and Gals -
Afton Alps did not open today. Yes, we made snow…but not enough to open up.
We have a 50/50 chance of opening for tomorrow; Saturday 11.28.09 and almost 100% chance for opening Sunday 11.29.09

Afton Alps Mother Nature is not working in our favor. We will not be open for skiing & boarding this weekend. We are just as upset as you. Our best chance of opening will be Thursday evening 12.3.09. Please stay updated to this site for more details soon to come.

^ I guess the 100% on sunday isn't as 100% as they thought. That is lame. Tony I think that Wild Mountain will be open. I may or may not be doing electrical work on the house Sunday. It depends on when my friend has time to come over. my attendance @ wild is TBD.

when did snowboards get so "loud"? maybe i'm a bit on the oldschool tip, but I remember the super clean graphics from 1994 - about 2003, after that... what the crap happened?

to this day my favorite board ever is my burton ouiji.. sadly few years ago I broke the tail a bit attempting a front flip. :( I'll forever keep that plank tho.... that board is a LEGEND!

My next board was a Burton code.... which I love. Not as fast as some of the new boards out there, but still clean and smooth graphics.

Now it seems I can't find a decent board out there that hasn't been crapped on by the 80's.

Anyone ever ridden at Mnt. Baker? I'm craving a trip out there this year now like none other!

I do dig that board... it's got a good flavor to it... top side is a little loud... but I like it.
I'll dig out my board and snap a pic tonight
