I'm a snowboard fanatic and live it all winter long. here are all my baby's. from left to right chorus (made by sister company of m3. my old old park board orange rossi ski's are my all mountains then my M3 caps, my fool around board, things a tank blue is my my Burton 7 used for friends and teaching people on, its a great board for directional cruzing as well with its low cut in. then my park board, a Burton X8 solid base and slides great, notice the wider duck foot stance with EST bindings. then in black and blue is the Burton Malolo a tried and true jumping board, then the ski's i use for racing are my solomans that are sharp enough to shave with. and on the far right is my all mountain fool around and fly fast x8, its got a great wto base and it rips. i like having one for rails and one for the rest of the mountain and for trips out west. this one has the est cartel bindings that are stiffer for more control and response. if you cant tell i love Burton's they are the best imo as taste of my love for cliffs at whistler i'm willing to part with the chorus, the M3 caps, the 7 and the morlolo if any one cares. if no one wants them i'll probably make a bench out of them. If anyone is looking to learn to snowboard or ski i'd be more then welcome to teach a few at a time. i'm sure i'll see a few of you at weltch this year, tomorrow i've got a car full of us going.
Any one have a few good recommendations for a good place out west to go that's within a 14 hr drive from the cities? Mike
I dunno how far stuff is but Im pretty sure most stuff is about 16 hours away. Big Sky, Montana from what I've heard is amazing.
Colorado is about 14 if you don't stop. Both trips I've made out there have been amazing. I have never been to Montana but I have heard very good things. Also UP Michigan can be great riding if the snow is fresh. Very hit or miss though
Yeah i've been thinking the denver area. Maybe copper mt or steam boat. I'm sure they'd both be great. Anyone know of any cheap recommendations?
I'm guessing what your calling the "denver" area would be the pass up I-70 IE Loveland pass I belive.. You can normally buy a week pass that is good for multiple ski resorts in that area. I think when i got mine it was good for A Basin, Breck, Copper, and Vail. Steamboat is a few hours north of denver and your pretty much just going to be stuck there. Check out their conditions cuz when steamboat has a good season they have a F'in AWESOME season.
^^^ this. You can buy passes and its open to most of those mountains that Tim mentioned. Although I think if you buy a 5 day pass, you're only allowed to go to Vail once with that. At least thats how or packages were set up. Right now steamboat is AWESOME. I have a buddy that is there right now and keeps sending me pictures that are unreal.
Sounds good, i'll have to look into that a little more. I think i'm only gonna be able to do a 2-3 day trip but that should be enough to get me started. Mike
Montana is a nice easy drive and you will have a ton of fun at Big Sky, Moonlight Basin, or Bridger Bowl. I lived in Big Sky for a season, so let me know if you have any questions about it. We typically go out there at least once a winter still and last year I rode at Moonlight Basin for the first time. Moonlight was very surprising and I think I actually had more fun there than Big Sky, plus it was only $45.
Dont forget big sky there is no lift lines. Im hitting up the "big" this year should be a good time. edit: by the big I mean the big coulior
Have fun Nate!!! Sorry I couldnt go, thanks for the invite via PM! I'll be coming to Duluth a lot in February so we'll have to meet up and go ride.
It was a bit icy today at welch, and surprisingly crowded for it being a tuesday. Enjoy Big Sky! its great skying and very affordable when compaired to the hundred dollars a day ticket at vail.....
Yea big sky is epic, I dont know if your familiar with the big couloir there, but im hitting that up this year. I have my new camera so I will have a million pics for you guys.
This is the time of year where ski hills see the most people in Minnesota. They told us that if we go out to Afton this week we will be teaching 1st and riding around 2nd.
wow, I just got this super lame email from Afton. Telling us, the instructors that if we go out to just ride from now until Sunday they will fire us. We can only go out to work. I guess that is the D-bag attitude that you get when your ski/snowboard school is run by a bunch of D-bag skiers. The email is huge but below is a part of it. "I am sorry to say that for the first time since I have worked here, and for the first time while I have been the director, all ski and snowboard school passes will be suspended for an extended period of time. All Ski and Ride School passes will suspended for free skiing through closing on Sunday January 3rd. This suspension takes effect at 1:30pm today. During this time you will be allowed to use your pass to gain entry to Afton Alps under the following circumstances: 1. You are scheduled to work and are using your pass to attend your scheduled shift. 2. You are looking to work extra shifts or pick up extra hours VOLUNTARILY and will be going to bells VOLUNTARILY while you are here. 3. You are attending a clinic. 4. You have PRE-APPROVAL to use your pass from me. "

Oh man! I was at Welch yesterday too from about 10am - 5pm. Sorry, I should have let you know that I was headed out there. I had an extra pair of goggles with too.... Next time if you see a guy with Red Pants and some rideMinnesota.com stickers on his board, stop me and say hi.
Oh damn, yeah, if you ever see a guy wearing, eh, forget it, I look like everyone else. We were parked over by the east chalet for the "adult swim" section of the resort. I went through the park a few times, but went back to hang out with my wife. next time.,...
Yea kind of hard to pick people of the crowd, especially yesterday when it was very crowded. I usually hang out in the east area of Welch too since I'm not a huge park guy and I'm usually riding with my girlfriend. See you out there sometime!
