Don't feel that bad, though. I'm sure that most of the mountain was unrideable/closed for the next few days due to extreme avy danger.

Ahhh, the sweet sweet sound of avy cannons in the background is really freaking cool.

Anyone here been to or heard anything about bridger bowl in montana? Me and a few friends are about 99% sure on going there the week of new years. Ive heard some good things about it and its super cheap!! I'm obviously not expecting it to be anything like the big tourist resorts but 2 of the guys I'm going with are broke college students so its a budget trip and for the money it doesn't look like theres any better options.

I've been there. Bridger is tiny, but very cool. It's in the middle of nowhere, but the terrain is killer. I had a fresh 10" and did a bunch of hiking.

Yup, there's some good terrain there, especially up at the top.

I haven't been there in over 10 years -- do they still have the super ****ty scary double chairs everywhere? They also used to have a tow rop way up at the top that would take you to some hiking pockets.

Oh yeah! The lifts are still old school. It did seem like they were making some improvements, but nothing too drastic.
So here's my Mt. Baker clip from 2004. I'm in green (with avalanche shovel), my brother's in black. I have the world’s best recovery in here (Terrain Park @3:00 count down) and also my first front flip attempt ever. BOTH these things pale in comparison to our novice friend CJ's BIG AIR attempt. It's more of an unintentional back flip, but it's one of the funniest moments I've ever caught on film. He wrecks so hard he knees himself in the face and has a nasty black eye by the time we make it to the bar.

About the only way your pal's super awesome crash would've been better was if he did the whole "rolling up the windows" routine while in the air.

:hsugh:well, I just screwed myself kinda...took my new 2.5 short block money and agreed to a mid- feb trip out to Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. We're going chase the storms as usual. We always bring the laptop, watch for the storms and whatever resort has the most powder we go there.....

tom, our crew parties pretty hard. and we just got a bunch of buy one get one free lift tickets. lemme know if you want some. they're for CB, monarch (which is good on a powder day), and copper (another resort which is okay). I prefer the SW area resorts, but free is free

great price for a new one....aren't they originally 450-500?

your thinking along the same lines as me. I decided on the Board of Directors from Endevor

Yeah, $500 new for that deck.

I've been riding a Salomon Daniel Franck for like the past 4-5 years. The thing is awesome in the trees thanks to it's super-stiff construction and deep sidecut but is flat-out SCARY on super fast choppy groomers. I'm pretty much always the last one to get to the lift, lol.

It's probably a good idea for me to get an actual backcountry/all mountain board instead of trying to ride a big park board out in that terrain. lol.

I did the same thing last year and it was a noticeable difference. I should have gotten a freeride board a long time ago. The thing was super stable at crazy wicked speeds at Copper last year with spring like conditions. Didn't have to deal with choppy resort snow as it was all pretty flat. That was the fastest I've ever been on a board. I think you need a couple arrows in your quiver.

I also just ordered some '06/'07 Forum Platform V1.8s this week. They seem like a solid binding.

I agree with 05 MR. we'll hit it this trip IF they have a solid dump. Last time we went they had 23" fresh and it was good. It's a smaller family oriented resort, but still has some good trees line and a bowl.

Don't drive out of your way for it...we only consider it because it's on the way to the southern resorts

Well it sounds like Monarch is having a pretty decent year so far. They have the 3rd most snow in the state behind Silverton and Wolf Creek. From looking at their trail map, the whole far skiier's left side of the mountain looks pretty fun. That's why I asked. :)

Mike & I are thinking about doing a cat skiing day out there.

I'm off to Jackson Hole Feb 10th for the steep and deep camp followed by a 3 day avi course. I'll keep my fingers crossed that we get some deep to go with the steep and deep camp.

I'll pray to the snow gods for you!:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Yup, backcountry awareness will save your life.

There was a deadly slide a few weeks ago in an area that can be seen from the MT backcountry pics (canyon creek) I posted earlier in this thread.

A bit off topic here, but I picked up a set of 2007 Ride ALPHA bindings. I might not ride with them though. too flexible:hsugh: ...but great for freestyle
