Yeah, Vail isn't my favorite place but it's where we are currently staying. Mike has been pretty good at finding all of the hidden stashes since he's lived out here for a couple of years. We've got a big 'ol Suburban so I'm not afraid of no stinking deer.
it's the caribou that are out there playing chicken with the cars. make sure you have ample "safety meetings"
i can't believe i still havent gone out at all this year again... anyone up for Highland quick this week?
That Terje first decent is mad.. saw that the day after i watched the newest Absinthe DVD.. Optimistic. its mostly big mountain riding with a little urban action. oh yeah, and mikey leblanc sessions a tobbogan with bindings on it. (check what hes riding in the first stair clip in the trailer) http://www.absinthe-films.com/index.php?id=109 <-- only if you can scratch or handle the itch..
I am sooo jelious i wants to be snowboarding so i steal your car I can steal your car now? kthanksbi.... EDIT: Allie says she wants to steal Noki
holy ****...I though those were my pics man....we took the same pics at monarch on the hike and at the table... IF i would've known.. I still have a bunch of buy one get one free lift tickets to monarch and crested butte and to top if off it looks like you guys are staying in the same room at wolf creek ranch...is it the room on the very end? If so look for a 6 pack of beer somewhere buried out the back door.
here's the end room we stayed in while at wolfie. and the same picnic table on the hike at monarch....damn small world
If you're going to wolf creek tomorrow hit the Dog Chutes and I think it's Area 54 below it...always deep over there:yumyum:
I have two things to comment about this thread. 1.) In reference to all the old school vs. new school that was going on a few pages back, my response is, "The best snowboarder ever was Boozy the Clown." And anyone who says Terje doesn't have style... well, I just can't follow your reasoning. 2.) I would like everyone to join me in a round of applause for wotboy and walloftvs for looking like such tourists ; ) Just kiddin'. I'm kicking myself for taking the summer off to go hiking instead of taking the winter off to go snowboarding with you two. ps - Thanks to Scuba and walloftvs for posting the the two Youtube vids of Critical Condition - I've been wanting to watch that movie again since like '93!
We're leaving Wolf Creek to go back to Vail early. :gasp: Code: W.C. Vail last night: 0" 4" predicted today: 0" 2-4" predicted tonight: 2-4" 6-10"
Those poor bastards were driving from SW Colorado to north central. It's a big drive. Probably stuck at some bar 1/2 way:biggrin:
Here's a pic for you to drool on. :yumyum: It's from three weeks ago at wolf creek. we were 1/2 up the hike to alberta peak. very very snowy:yumyum:
looks like you guys made the right choice!!!! bummer for wolfie though. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
such a sick day today....thanks to our excellent meteorology skillZ. There were a few times where I actually choked on snow, lol. Pics/vids to come later.
Good choice in staying at Vail I guess. Although Steve's pic from the Creek (and the thought of a nice hike up a peak) sounds pretty damn fresh to me. Ten fresh inches is pretty hard to beat... until you ten more the next day ; )
It was more like 15" today. The 10" was measured at 6am this morning and it kept dumping all day long. w00t!
