So I'm thinking my fuel pressure regulator gave up the ghost!

    so the other morning I started my car (lgt) and everything seemed fine until I gave it some gas to get moving, that's when the car sputtered and died. Multiple tries only to have the same thing happen.
    So after a day at work thinking about what could be going on, I decided to check out the fuel pump. I took the rear seat out and the trap door cover off of the car so I could hear the pump work better.
    After doing this I could hear that the pump would bog down just before the car would die... well after a new pump my problem isn't fixed...

    Next I checked to see if any fuel was coming out of the fuel lines in the motor compartment. Knowing that I would get sprayed when I removed the fuel line, I covered the lines with a towel and removed the first line....... no spray...... no pressure what so ever... no mater how many times I primed the system I never got a pressure spray as I removed the lines. I'm pretty sure I should be holding pressure in the lines right?

    So anyway I'm thinking Fuel pressure regulator gave up the ghost.?.?.

    I'd love to trouble shoot this but Motorcycle racing coming up fast and I don't have lots of time or cash to figure this this out, So Please let me know if I'm thinking in the right direction or give me something else I should be looking at.

    Does your car have the in tank filter just above the fuel pump? That's what was wrong with my car a couple months back. Had around 11 psi, they changed the pump out with a walbro and got 13. Finally replaced the filter and problem solved. It's not listed in the maintenace schedule but I had to replace mine at 46000 miles. Just a thought. #43 in the pic but thats from a 06 wrx not sure what your setup is.

    Did u check the filter, and/or blockages in ur fuel line?
    check ur pressure at starting at the pump, if not sufficient, now would be a good time for an upgrade anyway, since ur in there. if fine check down the line ending at the engine (fpr, rail, injectors) though u probably wont make it that far...

    well the filter is at the intake of the pump it's self, I had already upgraded the pump to a 255 (and just replaced it with another 255). other then the filter looking brown (fuel stained) it looked clean and clear.
    As for checking the pressure... as far as I could tell I would have had to cut the line and put pressure gage in line! I didn't feel like doing that...

    My thinking is that the FPR isn't holding pressure so the fuel is just flowing past the injector (an open loop kinda thing)

    usually, the fpr will cause an extended crank at start up, especially when the car has been sitting... can u scope ur injectors or check the pressure at the rail?
    (on an unrelated note, I still plan on hittin u up soon abt the bike)
    if u want some ideas/help hit me up, i have one of the best diag mechanics in the twin cities at my shop

    well if anyone needs a 255 Walbro pump I have one that works for sale!......

    when I replaced the pump (thinking it was bad) I noticed that the o-ring ripped, I replaced it with something close, but as the adage goes "close is for hand grenades, horse shoes and drive in's".

    so I guess a good FYI for anyone.... if you replaced you fuel pump and you car suddenly stops running, it's a good chance your o-ring on the output side of the pump stopped sealing what it needs to seal!

    Did you use two gas submersible o-rings? One leaves too much play and is more prone to leaking.
