I'll look into boost control. The next things i want to install are a short throw shifter and I think I'm going with kartboy, and auto anything has 15% off over the weekend so I might pick up a white line RSB.
Talk to Nuke - he may well have a 'base map' for your setup that you could flash after installing the parts, since it's a pretty common setup. It will be "close enough" to let you drive it to NF for the fine tuning, just don't push the engine hard - he'll likely reduce the boost to help avoid any chance of issues as well. You should ask him, but it may be close enough to let you drive around like that for a week or two before the tune, as long as you take it easy. This will just save you the pain of trailering the car, although if you want to be ultra careful I suppose that would theoretically be the safest path.
Does anybody have an opinion on The bullet proof TMIC mod when using the stock vf40 turbo at stage 1, 2, 2+? Am I correct in thinking that it's allows you to get more out of your turbo and go maybe beyond 15 or 16 PSI?
F it. I'll be that guy. I think I've already established that anyway. I see reports of folks running up to 20 psi on the stock TMIC with the mod. NO ONE reporting failure with the mod. So what makes it crap? Seems like it saves $900 for anyone going stage 2+. There are even reports of it testing as more efficient then other it's. I ask because I value the opinions of the local crew. But an argument to qualify the opinion will add credibility and provide for my education.
I don't have personal experience with it but it seems a lot like those "blast plates" for the wrx 5 speed that is supposed to "bullet proof" your weak ass tranny. It is just a band aid to a larger problem. It's $100 for the kit plus install and you are still left with a tiny stock intercooler core with plastic end tanks... It might give you peace of mind and it might not break but I would say an aftermarket intercooler will be better in every way.
