yea.....until the truck starts moving :eek3: hmmm....in park, in RWD, lift the rear wheels off the ground, balance the whole thing on a tire. yea.....goooood idea :hsugh:
a couple hours of sandblasting (would've been less if the @#$@#%^ compressor would've just stayed running ), and you've got this: the paint is drying now. some rustoleum rusty metal primer, and professional grade gloss black......mmmmmmmmmmmmm
nice progress. you should lower those coild the rest of the way. slammed is the way to go. Did you finally get that ebrake wired up to the nissan rear calipers? Glad to see that the wrx wipers arms or atleast parts of them are working for you.
it's already slammed. I was bottoming out the shocks with them set that low. not to mention the tires were tucked in to the fenders. no, haven't got the ebrake cables in yet....but started mounting the legacy handle. and yep, a torch and an air hammer.....and I got that wiper arm on there for good :yumyum:
i dont know what that last pic is...but i need to figoure out where you got that center section. i'm comtemplating making my own adjustable laterall links by cutting them in half and threading the ends and putting something like you have their in the middle between the threaded ends.
it's the hi/lo range shifter rod. all my shift linkage is from a part-time 4WD car (cause the jackass that sold me the trans didn't send me the linkage ). which works fine, except that piece is too short. it works ok, but the 2 shifters hit when in 4th gear lo. so, I cut it in half, went to menards bought a 5/8"-11 threaded rod, 2 matching couplers. came home, cut some threads into the ends of the now-cut shift linkage, screwed on the couplers, cut the threaded rod down to the desired size, and screwed the 2 halves together.... it worked very well, but I don't think I'd trust it for major suspension components. mostly because there's alot of play between the threaded rod and the couplers, and the only way to eliminate that is to tighten everything down as tight as possible. meaning the only way to adjust them, is to cut a new chunk of threaded rod....
all 8 wheel bearing seals. full set of lug nuts, yep, lug stud (stupid junkyard hubs  ). the big shiny thing is the rear wheel bearing tool. $30 socket :eek3: but if you need to do rear wheel bearings on your brat.....let me know.
update...got one rear wheel bearing removed, cleaned, and repacked. got the new seals in, spindle in, and hub/rotor on. so I thought I'd mount a wheel and take a few pics:
Thats gonna look SWEET! i like who the rim sticks out past the side of the car. now you just need some tires! first pic looks sweet.
you sir are the king of MNSubaru..... ps I like tha hat mod in that pic.. very elegant... h aha ha Justin I am sure you can do soemthing like that with lateral links... but are you sure you wanna cut the current ones and thread etc... I would look at custom ones or something.. there are many cars out there that have dual adjustable lateral links....
get this done by next weekend:biggrin: we need the classic representing for the duluth cruise. looking good btw
few pics from this morning before I head out to work some more... rear caliper paint is dry: and I cut the tip off the rear spindles (notice the 2 on the left vs the stock one on the right) so the Rota centercap will fit:
final update for today (time to go to work...) bearings and brakes in the rear are completely done. well....sort of.....just noticed a couple of the studs on the other XT6 hub are screwed up....so it'll have to come off.....but the rotors and lines are in. both modified spindles are in. so....another couple pics: now.....if only it would stop raining in my garage
ok....so there was time for a little more work before....work..... and so begins project: custom dampening:
uh oh. for a second there i thought you were cutting apart my old struts for the spring perchs lol. what fluid are you going to put into the strut? how much are you planning to stiffen it?
this is very interesting...i feel so compelled to read this thread everyday cause i wanna see the end result....good job on keeping pics and updates
I plan to run a little gear oil (haven't decided on the weight) in the struts.....should be a decent improvement over the watery crap that came out of there! well.....thanks to wrxjoe for letting me borrow his set of WRX wheels with tires on them for next weekend. pretty safe bet it'll be along for the cruise!
i would have let you use my speedlines but i didn't offer because i don't feel comfortable driving for long distances on those tires let alone let someone else use them. also the one that i had to patch needs to go on the front so that could be bad if it blew out. either way glad you got wheels for next weekend.
You could try on the Rota Rev's from the 2.5RS for the weekend if you want.... If I get the legacy running I will be bringing that to the festivities.
that would be most amazing. I am worried about making room for 235s on such short notice.....these 205 RE92s will fit pretty easy. but I'd like to try.
