So, after the big rain storm the other night. I parked the car. Got up in the morning, drove around, and I hear this squeaking coming from my front passenger wheel well. I got out and was bouncing the car up and down, and I couldn't get it to squeak. It only happens when I'm driving. It doesn't sound like your standard brake squeal. It squeaks over bumps. I looked in the engine bay and wheel well for anything rubbing against anything but I couldn't see anything that could be causing it. The car has 119k on it. It's an 02 WRX wagon. The only front suspension mod I have is the perrin PSRS besides 17" rota tarmac IIs. Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,
    - jfk

Can the bolts rust? Why would they squeak?

I don't know...it's annoying. It went away yesterday for a while. Then it rained and it came back. Argggh. Water seems to activate it. wtf?

of course they can rust.. they are metal... but its the rubber bushings I am talking about... they get worn.. could be the other bushings in the mounts that hold the sway bar to the body/chassis, could be strut mounts... or any other number of moving parts....

I mean...the thing has almost 120k on it, so I was gonna' upgrade the suspension anyway, but turning up the radio doesn't get rid of it ;) Do you have to take off the sub-frame to install a FSB?

    Arrgh

I'm getting lots of annoying squeaking from my left rear wheel area on my 07 wagon. Only suspension changes from stock are an '02 sedan RSB (20mm) and Kartboy endlinks. Just replaced the upper bushings/bolt on that side and it makes more noise than ever.

Can/should I squirt some type of l00b in there? I thought it was maybe coming from the top of the strut but all bolts are snug.

urethane bushings need to be lubed every now and again, rubber really doesn't. one of those things they don't mention in the marketing material.

Hmmph, what do folks recommend? Is there a l00b people recommend for our wildly varying climate here? I've got 28k on the car and this is the first I've noticed it.

I'd suggest marine grade grease - kinda aimed at wet environments, salt, etc. white lithium grease is what whiteline packages with their swaybars (which come with urethane/poly bushings)

wow, this is back from the dead. I did figure out my issue, and just lubed up my PSRS and she was good to go. I used marine grade as well.

PSRS is Perrin's "Positive Steering Response System" - its an anti-lift kit.

Ahh yes, I have the WL ALK but that's make a different racket (clunk) because I think I've got a loose sub-frame bolt.
