When I turn and give it gas and the tires spin a little in the snow I hear this squeaking noise from the rear end. It sounds like something is a little loose or something is just squeaking under pressure. Any idea what this noise it. I have heard the same thing coming from my buddies 02 WRX except his is worse. Thanks guys

Your description of your problem is extremely vague. However, internet diagnosis will tell you it's sway bar bushings, struts, or some other bushing back there. Just start checking underneath the car.

I don't know how else to describe it. It isn't a constant squeak when it does it, it surges off and on really fast kind of like when a truck is in 4 wheel drive and it starts jumping when you spin the tires in snow. I doubt it is the sway bar bushings because I have a fairly new perrin sway bar setup in the rear. I also don't think it is the struts because I just replaced the struts and springs. I hope that description helped a little. Any other ideas?

I would suspect the struts, springs or swaybar, seeing as you recently replaced them. ;)

If it was the struts, wouldn't it make the noise all the time?

What setting do you have on your DCCD at?.... Lock setting would feel like a chattering sound coming from the back when making turns on my car but i don't hear it in the snow...the chatter is more audible on dry and wet tarmac.

Does this happen only during turns or even on straight flat accerelations?

I know what you are talking about when you turn tight on dry pavement you can hear the tires fighting eachother because of the symmetrical all wheel drive. It isn't like that though, it is a small squeaking noise when turning and getting the tires to spin a little bit in the snow. It does not do it when I go straight at all.

06 STi with Feal revalved struts and RCE black with about 200 miles on them. Perrin rear sway bar setup with about 2,000 miles on it. Full turboback with about 7,000 miles on it. Thats all the modifications that would maybe be causing this squeaking noise but I don't think it is any of them. I will have to get it up on a lift and check it out.

Rear diff fluid was changed at 30,000 miles and the car currently has 45,000 miles on it.

Did you grease the sway bar bushings? What size bar/bushings/mounts are you using? On stock end links?

I don't think the sways or links have been greased as of recent. I installed the Feal struts and springs last week. I would agreed it could be something in the suspension (sway bar/endlinks) squeaking due to them being dry/dirty.

Hit me up if you want to stop by and have me take a ride. should be able to diagnose it pretty quick

I have the Perrin endlinks and the Perrin 22mm rear sway. I loaded them with grease when I installed it but maybe it does need to be re-greased. I thought it was wierd that my buddies stock 02 WRX with only 30,000 miles on it made the same noise but worse.
