A New day demands a new question players. On to Question Eight! The 2015 Forester and 2015 Outback share a lot of components, but yet each vehicle has safety features that the other does not. Name one of those safety features unique to each vehicle. The Outback has a total of one more airbag than the Forester. It uses cushion airbags for driver and passenger, the Forester has knee airbags for just the driver. The Outback also has available rear traffic alert and blind spot detection.
The time has passed for Question 8! On to Question 9. Subaru produced a "mid year" or 1/2 year model only once that I am aware of between 1980 and 2010. What model and year was it? (Because I am only aware of one, does not mean there might be more. With your answer please provide me a link for your source of information so I can verify and continue to be generous with points in the event your answer does not match mine.) Play on! Contest update. New Ending Date/Time will be Friday at 5. That way I can tabulate and round up a member to draw over the weekend. The 1987.5 4WD Turbo XT is the only Subaru I am aware of with an official .5 model year designation.
Its that time again and Question Ten is upon us. Goodbye number nine. This question is one where the best (highest) answer will win. In the event of a tie, all winning answers will awarded points. Which model year did Subaru have the highest, collective cylinder count offered between 1990 and 2015? How many cylinders would that be? What I am looking for is if you took the largest available engine per model and added them all up across all the USA models offered by Subaru that model year what would that cylinder count be?(Example- Forester 4 cyl, Outback 6 cyl, Impreza 4 cyl =14 total, 2002) Please reply with the models, cylinders, total cylinder count and model year. Not as much work as you think as Subaru doesn't have that many models. Only one guess allowed on this one. This question is worth 2 points! Impreza - 4 WRX/STI - 4 Crosstrek - 4 BRZ - 4 Legacy - 6 Outback - 6 Tribeca - 6 Forester-4 38 cylinders- model year 2013! The WRX was officially considered a stand alone model in 2013.
Holy balls. I'm over here hoping it stays open long enough so I can use the computer at home after work instead of trying to do it all on the phone.
Last call on this question. New one coming quickly! That time is now upon us for question eleven! A small amount of math involved here. What is the largest factory optioned tire put on a Subaru and what is the smallest from 1980-2010? The formula we will be using is cross section x profile x wheel size. For example 215/45/17 = 215 x 45 x 17 =164475 Please reply with models, years, tire sizes and the final numbers. You guys playing have been great sports and really enjoyable to work with. Tomorrow the fun ends... 2008 Tribeca 255/55/18 is the largest. The 1986 Justy ran a 12" tire at 145SR12. If we assume that tire had an 80 or 85 profile, it still comes in smaller than a 155/80/13 and thus be the smallest available tire.
So the goal is obviously to have the highest and lowest numbers possible from the math equations, correct? Sucks I missed out on the last one. Just got home from work 3 hours late so didn't even have a chance. Really digging the Garage Logic "cylinder index" style one too.
So, anybody else miss question 10? I missed considering the WRX a separate model, so I was 4 cylinders low in the count.
Question eleven is now in our review mirror as we go down the final stretch toward Question twelve! Like most manufacturers Subaru has its stable of colors. It has its reds, whites, blues, greens, blacks, and silvers for the most part that come and go and are shared across their model line with an exception here and there. With that said... Which Subaru model runs between 1990-2010 had at least five colors unique to it? (Model run=generation of that model. Example 05-09 legacy, etc.) Name the models, the model runs and the colors exclusive to it. Two cars are required for the point.
Here we go with lucky and final question thirteen! Like most of you on this forum, I have owned many Subarus over the years. With that said, I have only bought one Subie brand spanking new. The rest have been nearly new or demo cars. Which one did I buy brand new? Yes I am old enough to have bought them all new. I am barely older than @tangledupinblu but not as old as @Terry Ammerman 1984 GL 10 wagon (green) 1985 XT 4WD-Turbo (black) 1989 XT6 4WD (silver) 2003 WRX (silver) 2005 Legacy GT (red) Which one was it? One guess each. Last call for guesses is at 6 pm tonight.
Missed out on the paint one and didn't have nearly enough time to research it before 6 (even if you had accepted a late entry).
Gone! Thanks everyone for playing. Correct answers will be tabulated on Sunday with @Krazylegz1485 (Cody). We are working on a time/place. Anyone else in the Blaine area want to join, your'e more than welcome to. The winners will be announced on this thread immediately following.
For anybody interested, we're meeting at 3pm at Caribou in the SW corner of the Main Street & 65 intersection.
Drawing results just in and pulled out of a Caribou coffee filter by an unbiased third party were the winning tickets. Congratulations to @Krazylegz1485 for winning first place and to @sneefy for a fine second place! Thanks to everyone who played and kept me up most nights last week.
