i will be picking up a catted erz dp soon from the fs section , i am also ordering....

    gs crossover pipe-coated
    gs ebcs
    gaskets

then i will get a uppipe , which i am thinking of a coated gs as well

and in the spring i plan to have it installed and hopefully tuned on the same day if it works out that way (pms will be sent once i have all parts and funds for install/tune)

    ?s

    parts sound ok?

if i go with a non flex uppipe , should i go for the perrin/hks , or get a cheapo non flex off ebay?.....i heard the larger diameter can hurt spool

any thoughts / suggestions are welcome , thanks

GASKET/PORT/PIPE DIAMETER DOES MATTER. a good match is important. you want to be certain that the gasket is a good match for the up pipie, and that the up-pipe diameter is a good match for the turbine in-let side port. smooth flow for pre-turbo exhaust is important. otherwise you could loose power from the turbulance you create by mismatching pre turbo piping.

I'd just get the GS uppipe, the price isn't bad from what I remember, and it's local. The HKS is also a decent choice for a non-flex.

not really....you just have to make sure to torque all of the nuts/bolts in the correct sequence.

Because while flex section failures are rare, they happen. It's one less thing that can fail in your exhaust system.

I'd go with a used STI uppipe. OEM fit & finish, can be had cheap.

Wrap your uppipe. And that shouldn't happen. I've never seen stress cracked uppipes before.

when there is no flex joint in the exhaust it sure as hell can happen, just as likely as a flex failure.

whatever you get, wrap the uppipe and your inner CV joint boot will thank you. I couldn't beleive how much more weathered my passanger side looked then my driver side boot, all the heat just cooks the thing! Might as well wrap the dp too, why you getting a catted one anyways?

thanks , i will get a gs up then , i was a little worried about the flex failure thing

or...... a great option if i can find it would be a sti uppipe...06-07 are not catted right?

i will wrap it if i get a gs....any how to right ups for that ?

the reason for a catted dp is i want to keep the noise down in my wagon , the one in the fs section is basically the same one i had planned on getting but with a cat...so i figured i would spend a little more , get one that has a cat , and help out someone who wants to sell

You'll be fine with what you have for now since the stock injectors will max out before the turbo does.

Don't! Then you'll just say "oh now all I need is a turbo!!" and then you'll be broke.

thats the plan , turbo anyway , but i was thinking next spring , so i may just wait and start getting parts along the way , thinking of a 68HTA for next year , but i think i would be better off doing the tranny work on my auto first :(

I had a year old megan racing uppipe flex section fail. There is even a photo some place on here of it. I replaced it with a Grimmspeed one.

might wanna talk to your tuner about that one. What if in a year or so you think that a 16/18g is too small. Makes sense to fit the injectors to the amount of fuel you will need when the time comes.

+1. Might as well go to alibaba.com and buy from the source.
