I always put my utec in the security mode. That thing will never turn over. Gladly, it never got tested in a real situation although I did forget to switch it off a few times and regardless to say it lives up to its name. I was confused as hell a couple of times and was that close to calling a tow truck once...

Well, it is illegal to do anything that would harm the theif. I have first hand experience with that. The guy that did it to his car got 2 years of jail time for it (and the prosecutor wanted attempted murder).

For the 10 years that I did alarm installs, i would say the best thing is a good alarm that is installed very good (ie can't see it or the wires), and a single flashing red light. Given most theives are dumb, but they are also lazy. If they see the red light they think alarm and know that there is always another car with unlocked doors right around the corner. It is also in your best interest to not leave 50 cd's and cash sitting out in the open. A flashing red light and nothing worthwile in plain view is your best defense.

I also know someone who was sued over a anti-theft device designed to hurt the theif. A hotrod guy i know. Compressed airtank filled off his horn (loud) compressor to power a piston that would swing a pipe out from under his car on both sides if the "serious" trip on his alarm went off. Broke some highschool kids leg pretty badly when the kid tried to joyride it.....

One of my Coworkers told me to put a PitBull dog inside my car's rear leg room. Then they will never get out of the car. lol (thats the best Idea I've heard)

Best idea until the Cop and Humane Society gets to you. Plus you'll find a dead dehydrated Pitbull in the back of your car. Another thing... the dog will $#@! all inside and make a mess before he goes. I would say you'll win a "Best Kept Dog" in this years Animal treatment award ROFLMAO.

yeah insurance is your friend....but i've had good luck...knock on wood...i've had dents intentionally put in cars by people...but never stollen..I probably just jinxed myself...but any car that i love i wouldnt leave somewhere i dont feel is safe aka viper..

the mercedes? im in it well...steal it for me so i can get another tax write off for this year

I have a much better idea for you, but I don't put them on a public forum as it pretty much tells you how to bypass it. You have my number Will, call me if you want details

3.Buy that stupid key fob thing, like you see in the commercial the guy at the bar and his thing beeps and he runs out to the back alley and kicks that guys ass.Might help?

An aftermarket alarm w/ 2way paging is a good addition, but aftermarket alarms are only as good as their installer.

But most of all I think its preventative caution steps, heres things I will do, tell me if you know of anything to.

1. Carry a small bag(yes like a handbag:eek4:,backpack,courier bag,fanny pack:laugh: ) When you park your car for a long period of time, take stuff and just throw it in, ex. ipod,radar detector,camera,wallet,phone,glasses, and every other little trinket you got hiding in there. designate it your 'subaru' bag so you always know where your stuff is, its a bit of a pain but well worth it.

2. Always park near people, and well lit areas(duh), near cameras

3. I leave all my compartments wide open, ie. glove box, center console so that if they look in(which they always do first) they see that there is nothing in there, or it looks like somebody already went through it.

4. If at a resturaunt or somewhere with many windows, just face the damn car, its ok to look at your baby while you eat

5. Option number five, carry a big gun, like a military issue desert eagle and hide in your car every night and the day that bastard tries to rip you off, ****ing take off an arm(but be carefull cause the re-coil might take yours off )
