Car: 2005 WRX Wagon Before I begin: Yes, I have make sure that the audible lock is on. For the last year or two my car would sometimes beep when I lock it, other times not, and randomly would sound like the "beeper" was dying/half power. Now it isn't working at all. Doors still lock and all, but it doesn't beep/chirp when I lock/unlock. I know this sounds like a stupid request, but is there something I should look for? It seems to me that either 1. there is a wire loose somewhere that is touching only sometimes, 2. Beeper thing is dying/dead 3. combo of both. I'd make a PM to just one of the guys at morrie's, but I figured others might have this issue in the future. Thanks in advance, Ryan
I remember the Foresters having issues with this a while back. IIRC the part is around 50-60 bucks, it's mounted on the front support and I think it's even listed in the parts catalog as a beeper. I'd shoot a message over to the Tonka Twins (or Quads ) and see what they can pull up.
Mine doesn't beep either...however shortly after the beeping stopped working, the fob stopped working altogether.
Mine does the same thing, from what I've been reading it's the alarm horn itself that's broken. Mine only works when it's around 25 degrees outside.:dunno:
hrm.. wonder if there is a way to re-wire it so it beeps though the horn like the '02's. I'll have to look into that later
http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11810&highlight=alarm+beep I had this issue a while back
Common issue and happens on and off with my car. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'd imagine it getting wet has something to do with it.
mine started working sporadically, then it stopped beeping, then it just stopped working. I replaced the battery. It works fine now.
To all that have this issue, it's caused be the "Keyless Buzzer" which Bielke has listed the part # and price for. Once the beeper gets moisture in it, they choose when they want to work, or what pitch noise they make. I have replaced many myself, and probably will continue to do so...as long as they keep using them.
