I've been having an issue in my legacy and it is really irritating and made me late for work this morning and also one day last week. Now that its cold out this has been happening more and more on the first start up of the day. Once I've been out driving it and shut it down its comes out of park just fine. On initial startup though the shifter will not move from park and yes my foot is on the brake. I had to sit there and fight my car for over 20 minutes this morning. Anyone have any problems like this? Any ideas to fix this? Thanks, guys!!

Shift lock solenoid, next time it does go into gear, park it in N, use the parking brake till you can get it fixed

I am bumping this thread rather than starting a new one, I think have the same problem just started thid morning. Car was warmed up but the shifter just wouldnt move into gear. I was wondering how hard of a fix this is, is this the kind of work to have done mntkasubi or would most shops beable to fix it.

Its probably the interlock switch, there should be a small small cover looking thing on the shifter assembly, pop it off and take a small flathead screwdriver and stick it down in there, push down on it, and it should release the shifter. its a small cover to the upper left of the gear indicator.
