Just last night I went for a drive and had siginificant stumble and loud popping from exhaust under acceloration. This morning on the way to work I had the same issue. Even as I was cruising in rush hour traffic under very minimal acceloration at 40mph. The car drives OK? if you are gentle, but if you try to really get moving it is very unhappy (the stumble becomes very significant/violent bucking).
Mods: exhaust, intake, cobb AP v1
No recent maintenance car has been great all winter.

Note: This car was worked over by Dan (turbo turtle) last year and ran near flawlessly all winter. Dan is gone and I NEED A NEW SUBI MECHANIC!!! PREFER SOMEWHAT LOCAL. I'm by the Mall of America. Available almost any evening. I would really like someone to look at the car ASAP. Thanks for any help.

No CEL. I've got 6 gauges (a/f, oil pressure, temps) all appear to be normal. I've been to RS with my old car. I'd prefer a garage mechanic for starters. If this is a significant issue then I will look further.

He'll gladly take care of you and I'm sure he can have Ron tune your car to bring the most out of it as part of their diagnosis package.

+1! Matt and Ronnie are the most reliable shop that you could take your car to! Sure it's not as cheap as someone cranking away on it in your garage, but i have no issues at all with giving them my hard earned money knowing that the job is done and done right. They are absolute perfectionists and stand by their work! Good luck finding someone to do that out of your garage.

You will not be sorry with the outcomes of their work...i promise you that!

I personally know Dan too and he's a great guy also...he loves turning wrenches.:)

Sounds like you are not getting enough fuel. Maybe a leak before the turbo or fuel pressure dropped. Just going with your description.
There are plenty of guys here with good experience who can help you. Even if you wanted to try to fix it yourself. If you end up still needing us, we are here to help.

Could be coil packs, but odd to have 3 of them go at once. Seems more like a fuel problem than spark

I'm going to have it towed to RS probably some day this week. We'll go from there.

Old car: check grounds. If you can't take a multimeter and read a dead solid zero between any sheetmetal you touch anywhere on the car, your grounds can be improved. This will influence sensor function and even function of the ECU.

The next step is front O2 sensor (air/fuel) and MAF sensor. Both of these have a LOT of authority over how the engine runs. The trick for checking O2 is that it will run great cold and during heavy throttle while it's reading from the ECU maps but run bad under part throttle when it's reading from the sensors. A MAF is typically the opposite. A bad MAF can start and idle fine and work under very light throttle but act crazy bad under heavier throttle. You are very much describing the later, so I'd point you straight to the MAF. Cleaning will likely do nothing, but it's a cheap try. You will more likely need to replace it.
