Think the ice will be safe if these temps keep up?

would you guys rather that I didnt plow the course. I know last time it got real slick. There is around 5 inches of snow on the ice now. I could just mark out a course with cones and groom it so its smoothe.

    Whatcha think?

I think plowed is better (more challenging), but if you could tame those snowbanks that would be MUCH appreciated... I think the damage some people sustained hitting snowbanks turned some people off from racing again... The banks weren't even that bad, so if you hit the biggest ones with the plow it'd be perfect.

im going to move the course to an area that hasnt been plowed yet. so if I plow it the banks wont be hard. I will wait to plow it until a couple days before.

    Ok, your down.

I dont think you will have to worry about messing up your own car if I make the course in a different spot, there is anly 5 inches of snow out there and its all fluffy

I have some suggestions for event type stuff while we're there. It would be nice to have a bit more organization when it comes to the "racing" part of the weekend.

I suggest we do in addition to the timed course runs a olympic cycling style competition on the oval track. Cars start on oppopsite sides of the track, whoever closes the gap on the other car after X amount of laps wins. All you need is some red dye on the ice to make 2 lines and you dont even need timing equipment.

Also a drift competition judeged by the spectators on one of the linked turn sections of the course might be fun. We could judge say a 3 turn section for overall doriftoness.

I am just throwing out ideas but it would be nice to do some more competitive events since we have 2 whole days. we dont need to start before 1pm (I know you lazy bastards dont like waking up)

If nobody else is terribly interested i can start compiling here a schedule of events.

I'd say time trials, drift competition and circle track are probably going to be popular, but if we come up with times to do them etc. it might help

I think the circle track competition should be seeded tournament style based on the rankings of the top cars vs the slower ones, giving more of a shot to the slower guys. Snow tires would also be weighted in rankings.

Also, Ice drag would be nice, just keep the cars 25 yards or so apart in case one runs wild.

    Sounds fun..

Let me know what kind of area you want me to plow, I will have in the next week.

Right now we have 3 cabins saved, if we dont get anymore people I will start renting the other cabins to snowmobilers. Right know we are telling people we are full, so please let me know soon how many more are comeing so everyone will have a place to sleep. We are supposed to get 5 inches of snow on thursday so lots of people are calling looking for a cabin.

    Thanks
    Rich

Rich: I have switched status to for sure coming now. I'm probably going to bring my car down too. If anyone wants a ride downt here from the cities they can tag along with me so long as they dont mind my music/bov

ok, so here is what i'm thinking.

We would need an oval track, a normal track and a drag race area.

The oval track would need to have the insides of the turns marked with our super secret industrial dye (or cones) to keep people from repeatedly cutting the inside too short to keep the races fair.

We'd need a drag strip. It would probably work best to have this be as much packed down snow as possible, because its gonna get ripped into glare ice sooner or later. I'd propose keeping the cars apart a bit more than normal in this area since rutting may cause cars to veer or run wild. We can use a standard flagger system for this, it should be fairly obvious who wins, they get to the finish line first. we can bracket something up or just run heads up but it would be nice not to have to do timing on this since it requires somewhat accurate timing.

for the normal timed laps we'd just need a stopwatch and a pad of paper again, alonf with the standard road course. not too complicated.

anyone else got any bright ideas?

Edit: I am currently shopping for some trophies.

so far the only one i got done is "NUMBA ONE SUPA JDM DORIFTO SENSATION"

its hard to fit all that on a little trophy base.

lol. i like the ice drag idea. that would be alot of fun, especailly if it was a full 1/4 lol.

teh dorifto would be cool to, even if it was just to get a camers setup up so we could video the cars all hitting the same corners.

it would be fun to have a very tight circle track for low speed dorfito. see if someone could keep the car sideways for more than 1 lap around the circle.

I plowed a new course today, it turned out good. The banks are nice and small, less than a foot tall. its been snowing the last few days so there is alot of fluffy snow
