I can't say I have been "emotionally attached" to any car I have ever owned. Do I take care of them? Yeah, probably better than a lot of people care for their children. None of them have been anything other than what was the "right" car at the right time based on a bunch of ever changing parameters. They served their purpose and I moved on.
In all fairness, the Legacy GT is the one I "miss" the most as it had no real issues (other than some minor rust just starting). I was approached to see if I was interested in selling it. I thought I asked for a high enough amount to dissuade them...I had not.
I thought that they didn’t “fix” the WRX until 2010 or 2011? I thought that the STI hatch in 08 was great, WRX, not so much
08 WRX is definately the "ugly duckling" of the bunch. It still had the TD04 from the previous generation WRXs. In 09 they changed to the VF52, but it was still ugly...just less slow
They did a band aid fix for 2009. The engine (turbo/hp) for 2009 was the major upgrade (same from 09-14). They also added some fun parts: stiffer springs/dampers/roll bars. Wagon also comes standard with the body kit, STI wing, and STI grill. The storage space below the HVAC has gray plastic trim. The HVAC knobs are slightly different. Seats got fancy red stitching and have "WRX" embroidered on them. It also had darker colored wheels (08 silver vs 09 dark grey).
