my suggestion would be to either take a few people, or just wait for the fall runs with bikerboy, he knows his sht
I've been leading tours on the fabulous roads of the "driftless" area in western Wisconsin since the 1980s when I was in college in Madison (yes, I'm that old). I've developed some great routes with more lateral G-forces per mile than anywhere outside of a Formula One track. My routes use the local farm roads (all paved) that are practically deserted. We stay off the main highways where all the traffic is. On a typical two-hour tour, we'll come across maybe 15 other cars total (unless we happen upon a Subie tour on County I and one guy spins out into the ditch!) That twisty road just south of the town of Afton is County Hwy 21. It's posted at 30mph and is a SPEED TRAP fundraiser for the local law enforcement. I wouldn't recommend it. In any case, Subie drivers are always welcome on my tours. Info here in case you missed it: http://mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26383
that road is not marked at 30, that's what the yellow "recommended speed" signs say. if you go the white limit you have fun, but yes the cops are usually out in there too and i've seen some nasty wrecks in there too
Maybe we're talking about different sections of the same road. The stretch I'm referring to is just south of the small town of Afton, MN. It's a nice twisty section that goes uphill as you're leaving town heading south. Apparently the color of the speed limit signs doesn't matter to the local constabulatory, because they give tickets for anything over 30. I drove through there a few weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure I saw white "30 MPH" signs posted.
