I'm not sure where to start on the price, I would like to get around $5k (open to offers), as is, where is, but I am willing to part it out. Located in SW MN (Montevideo). My cousin decided to drive my suby while I was away at work. I received a phone call that I no longer have a Subaru because it was on fire on a gravel road. It seems like something dripped on the manifold, causing a fire, but I'm not 100%. Long story short, insurance totaled it out. I have a pretty decent amount of parts on this. The turbo is a fresh rebuild with less than 50 miles on it (thinking the rings were blown on the motor, thought, *hoped*, it was just seals on the turbo). Car was running and pulling strong, just burned oil. There are still a lot of good parts on this car. It has sunroof and heated seats, 89k on the body and 5 speed tranny, less than 15k on the new long block and parts listed below. A list of some of the parts:
    Deatsch Werks 565cc injectors.
    ARP head studs.
    TurboXs front mount intercooler.
    Samco intake up-pipe.
    HKS 3" down pipe Bellmouth.
HKS carbon titanium cat back exhaust.
    HKS SSQV blow off valve.
    TiTek up-pipe.
    Evo III 16G turbo.
    Borla exhaust manifold.
    ACT stage II clutch.
    Ksport Kontrol Pro Coilovers.
    Cometic head gaskets.
18's w/3 good tires (I'll have to double check what brand)
I'm sure I'm forgetting some things.

Are you selling this with 3k hidden in the car?

There isn't anything salvageable forward of the firewall, and I'm guessing that the interior is going to have some issues from smoke.

    GLWS.

The front passenger side is the only place that really lost much. The back half didn't get much heat, the recirc hose on the ssqv didn't even melt. Turbo, exhaust, suspension, transmission, clutch, rims, etc are all good still

I'm not quite sure how it happened. It looks like something dripped on the manifold, or an animal made a nest there (out at the farm), heated up and then took off. The fire department arrived fairly quickly, glad it wasn't just a leftover chunk of melted metal. Lots of saveable parts survived.

Karma could've played a roll because of the plates haha

The scorching in your first fire picture says otherwise, especially at the firewall, passenger fender and passenger side strut tower. The heat involved with that fire would be enough to make any aluminum components extremely questionable as to their usability. The front struts and wheels are shot, especially if they were the original stock struts with that sort of drop. Who knows what sort of contaminants got into the HVAC system and from there into the car. You may be able to get some money for the rear driveline components and rear body parts, but other than that you've got a well done paperweight. Rough trade in value on your car is around 7k, and that's assuming a running car with a non-salvage title. You've got neither of those.

5k is completely unrealistic, and the people on this site should know that. I wish you the best of luck, but you need to be realistic.

You must have read the ad very well. The very first sentence "I'm not sure where to start on the price, I would like to get around $5k (open to offers)" Original shocks with that drop? "Ksport Kontrol Pro Coilovers." You haven't seen the car in person. The back half of the motor didn't get hot, none of the rubber hoses or reservoirs melted. You're opinion and input are appreciated.

You have a picture where the battery is melted. That was on the opposite side of the major fire damage. That is a lot of heat. I have to agree with Shorty on this one. Everything in front of the fire wall is suspect. There are still a lot of good parts left, but I wouldn't trust anything in that engine bay.

I missed the coilovers in your parts list before I read it. Even so, I'm guessing the fronts are cooked. Also, are we looking at different pictures? I'm seeing melted reservoirs and hoses on the opposite side of the engine from where the fire was, as well as on the fire side.

Anyway, OP, you're legitimately receiving a high level look from a professional fire/arson investigator. Your choice on what to do with that information. I would put some weight on the opinion in the same position so I could be as accurate as possible while figuring out what I was working with.

Shorty, why do reports always use the term "accelerant" when discussing a suspected arson when I have to believe that the accelerant used is almost always gasoline? I have a hard time believing that an arsonist would use gallons of charcoal starter fluid, or some other highly volatile solvent.

The term "accelerant" is typically used to describe anything that'll help to accelerate fire growth. Gasoline is common, but I've seen and read about all sorts of different things being used, among them starter fluid, alcohol, kerosene, diesel, etc. It usually falls down to what's readily available, but they all leave some sort of evidence. One of the most common accidental causes I've seen lately? Wood stain and wood staining rags.

Yeah, staining rags...have been afraid of those since high school shop. Diesel is not one of the first things I would think of if I were going to torch a building...or even alcohol. Dollar for dollar, gasoline has to be the cost-conscious arsonist's accelerant of choice. I have had a metal, oily waste can for almost 30 years now. Every DIY homeowner should make this one of their first purchases when outfitting their garage. Get one.

If you've ever tried to burn anything smooth or vertical you'd fine that gasoline is a pain. Add to that the stink factor and the difficulty in controlling something so volatile I would think it's a bad choice. If people use it for molotov cocktails or anything like that it is usually mixed with something more viscous like motor oil. Otherwise something hotter, but still readily available like white gas or stickier like kerosene would almost certainly be better than gasoline.

    Ummm.....not an arsonist. I promise.

While we're in PSA mode, it's not worth trying to wash/dry oily rags, too much risk of fire. Also watch out for linseed oil-soaked rags, they can spontaneously combust - much like Subarus.

All of the ones previously mentioned will work, but there are plenty of other alternatives out there if one is so inclined. Pool products and automotive fluids can be rather volatile when mixed as well. Keep in mind, houses now are filled with so many plastics that it doesn't take much to get one going, and when they do start they burn hotter and nastier than houses 15+ years ago. Cars burn well regardless because they're pretty much all petroleum products other than the metal parts.

I'm guessing we're not going to be hearing from the OP due to a terminal level of butthurt.

You're not going to want that interior, odds are there was enough smoke inside that even if you could get the smell out, the cancer stays.
