People need to realize that the single biggest factor in reception is.....the phone! Amazing concept considering that the antenna used for this thing called recpetion is in the phone..and guess what, the service providers do not make the phone.

I realize many know this, but reading through this makes it clear everyone does not. I have had different phones with the same provider in the same location have different reception quality as I expect I would.

The only reason I switched from Sprint to Cingular was because they require all the "data" plans if you have a phone capable of it.... I couldn't get a phone that was "Vision" capable for the discount without paying for the "Vision" plan! Bzzt, wrong answer. I have never had a dropped call on either service (unless I caused it by going somewhere there was no recpetion). Obviously, everyone has different values attached to what they want and it is very clear in this thread. BTW, I also have a Verizon phone that I use for work and I have never dropped a call on that either. Hmmm...catching the theme? Dropped calls are rare on any modern network. Most dropped calls are actually due to your phone (let's just say I have inside info on phone chipsets, considering my company provides the chipset to ~40% of phones on the market, mostly outside the US, though).

This sounds more like a Chevy vs Ford argument!

In the Telephia survey, 97% of all calls were completed between all the companies being tested. So yes, it is rare to have crappy service in a major metro area with any company. The phone is the major factor.

On average, the cell phone industry has the highest unsatisfied customer rating between most major industries. (vehicles, electronics, appliances, etc.)

I was referring to JD Power & Associates website...

    ^^ Customer Service

    ^ These are some faqs...

Mainly the point I was making is that any carrier can manipulate findings in their favor to entice customers to switch to "their" service... I was just pointing out some more sites consumers (Speedemon, etc...) could go to to review other customer and industry examples.

I can only speak for myself, but I believe every carrier will have positive customer feedback and negative customer feedback...

It's all about getting the "right" service for you since there is so much competition, yet there are specific differences with each company! I was attempting to help point some of those out... :)
