ain't she perty! Got a heck of a deal! This is my first subaru that isnt a legacy, time for some wrx goodies, anyone got some cheap suspension recommendations?
Welcome to the fozzie club. WRX suspension and '04 STI suspension will be drop in. Because of the rear end weight, you are better off getting "WAGON" suspension but I am running non-wagon suspension with spacers on the rears.
It will have to be painted but this is about the best deal I have found. I have been meaning to order one so if you are interested maybe we can split shipping. http://www.subaruforester.org/vbull...-threads-now-combined-new-stuff-added-128627/
I read somewhere once that the SG5 XT's were 15lb's lighter than the 04 STi. I have yet to verify this, but the curb weight figures claimed that on the site I was looking. My only thoughts were that the 6 speed and R180 were just that much heavier. Edit: Interesting... comparing the 04 STi to the 05 XT on this site the auto is heavier but the manual is lighter, also my math was off. 05 XT Manual:3225lbs 05 XT Auto: 3270lbs 05 LL Bean: 3195lbs 04 STi: 3263lbs http://www.cars101.com/subaru/impreza/wrxsti2004.html http://www.cars101.com/subaru/forester/forester2005.html
The Sti weighed about 180 lbs more than the wrx (sedan). And it appears that the Fozzie XT weighs about 140 lbs more than the wrx (sedan). Also, I think the comparison of the LLBean to the XT is mostly just going to be the turbo engine components but its surprising that it amounts to 75lbs. I think its crazy that the Forester X MT only weighs 3090 lbs.
Yeah sorry, wasn't in relation to your suspension comment, just some info I had to get off my chest that I read the other day. My jaw dropped when I read that the Forester XT was lighter than the STi.
As with everything on the internet (and subaru), highly contested... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1571494 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=37842537
Then give it to me... I can install it in the fozz and see if our science-y calculations were correct!
