thank you for not being lazy like me and actually finding the link amy  and dave, you should come. tossing dirt is far superior to listening to m@d vtak all day long.
Oh yea, searching. I forgot that existed! I'm just lazy..thanks for the info guys. I'm seriously thinking about it. So I as I read some of the other posts, you guys suggest snow tires correct? What's the worst time? I know I am going to suck at this seeing it is my first time. If I come, no laughing too hard! hahaha Pay ahead or there?
I think I'll be able to make it. As long as I can get someone to cover my on call weekend I'm good to go. I should be meeting you guys at Walmart. If anyone needs a FRS I will bring a few spares.
Don't worry about going slow. To go fast you have to go slow. That's the part that eludes me sometimes. Just remember, "Slow in. Fast out." And don't hit cones. That will definitely wreck you time, I am the voice of experience in this. Amy
Doesn't look like i will be making it - there are apparently a lot of robots competing in my class, and there are no plans to get the class done on saturday. So, if i get broked, which is unlikely, i'll be there. :-/
I've been doing this for a few years, have had some very good days, including one overall win, and last event I just plain stunk up the joint. I was damn close to dead last in a car that's been built to do this stuff. And I couldn't leave the cones alone. So don't worry about being slow.
to me it's not about being fast. it's about having fun with your car and some really great people. I'll just keep saying that until I am fast haha
Count me in! I got a helmet and my strut tower bars are arriving wednesday/thursday this week so i'll be ready. I'll need a frs radio (???). I'd meet at Wal-Mart w/everyone too if we're doing that. No laughing at newbies please...first event.
Awesome! The more the merrier. It really is a good bunch of people. Yes, bring an FRS so you can report cones when its your turn to work. Amy
Yes, I can go! I'm gonna go try to find my weekend pass from the last one and sign up online. I'll have to extra FRS radios with me to lend out. Sleeperwagon, you may want to read up on the rallyx class rules, the strut tower bars may bump you to the next class.
joel I'll need to borrow one again i think - my stupid radio is still borked and nate still has my other one. If I have time I'll run out and buy one but time is pretty hard to come by these days
I've already mounted: lightweight crankshaft pulley, fr and rear swaybars, "frankentake" air intake. Strut tower bars before sunday. Will I be in Rally Prepared class? Looks like that to my reading, but would like a sure answer. Thanks!
You know, looking at the rules, pulleys are not listed as an allowable mod in Prepared, at least that I can see. Which technically would make you Modified.
I smell a RXB rule suggestion. Too bad I missed the webcast of the RallyCross rules discussion earlier this evening.
If I have to race in the modified class, then so be it. The crankshaft pulley mod in Autocross doesn't move me up a class, but if it does in RallyCross, then oh well...I'll still compare my numbers to the prepared class people and I won't care what place I take in the modified class, since my car really isn't "modified". The crankshaft pulley maybe added 2-5 horsepower at the wheels. I couldn't tell any difference on my butt dyno. Perhaps that rule should be changed, but I'm just a newb, what do I know?
Yeah, just go and have fun then. It's a blast no matter what class you're in. I guess I thought your car was closer to qualifying for the stock awd class. If I ever want to compete seriously I'll try to build a car that fits in a specific class, until then I just plan to run what I have in whatever class I belong in.
Very wise statement and worth quoting. The biggest speed secret in RallyCross is the loose nut behind the wheel. Improving your driving will yield much more speed than improving the car. If you don't believe me, have one of the experienced drivers drive your car. You will then understand. Once again, the quoted text is very wise /\ Mark Utecht
Another question: Spare Tire Removal...should I remove it when I get down there or now (leaving it here in the cities)? I don't know how often tire probs happen and obviously I don't want to race with it in the trunk (or do I??) but don't want to blow a tire down there and be f++ked.
You certainly want to bring a spare tire with to the event. it is up to you if you want to remove it for the event. Many do and I recommend you remove it. Mark Utecht
Last time i ran my winters and brought my summers along with me, that way i knew i had a good set of wheels/tires to roll home on. I'd recommend you do the same, if you have two sets.
The weather was great today, it turned out to be a perfect rallyx day. Not a drop of rain until after we were done. If anyone is missing a jacket and/or cell phone, contact Mark Utecht. They were left on one of the tarps behind the subarus. I can't wait to see the pics from today.
I believe it was cp9a6m's passenger that left that stuff i hope to see some good video up too! I saw a few vid cams out. great seeing everyone today, another fun, smoothly run event! and I'm getting faster! basically the same position in m4 as last time but i was 9th overall this time.
I took almost none there were a lot of people with cams though, hopefully they'll get on the scca lol site. Russ was there taking pics too - I'm sure he'll have something up in the next couple of days lol, just found out the shirt I was wearing under my sweatshirt was inside out and backwards. double fail
Here are some pics from today. Sorry only took a couple plus two vids of me running. Great meeting everyone! Can't wait until the next one! View attachment 10222 View attachment 10223 View attachment 10224
joel you should make a new pic thread and move these posts over so they don't get lost at the end of this one. i'm processing right now - i only have 2 dozen or so, so i will be done shortly
Thank you , I think my flourescent yellow Capsure Tethered Tire Valve Caps will look nice on my red wheels. It was cool that they had a sponsor and had some prizes to give out.
Excellent time today. 800+ pics, so it will take some time to go through them all. I think I have 25-30 of them uploaded now that I will post in the pic thread in a bit. Russ
wow :eek4: (I hope you aren't anal-retentive like me and have to finish editing/uploading pics once you start) thanks for coming with and shooting pics Russ!
What a great day. I was a little worried with the terrible weather yesterday but it really turned in to a very pretty day. I was psyched at the number of MNSubaru members that came out to race. Good job guys! Don't forget to volunteer for Nemadji Trail stage rally on May 10th. This is a great one day race just North of the cities. Check it out here: http://www.snowstates.com/events/nemadji.htm See you in the woods AND at the next Rally Cross. Amy
I had a great time today. Thanks to everyone that organized the event and those of you that talked me into going. I will be back for sure.
