Well lie it says, I am going to buy new struts for the bugeye and I am not sure what brand and or style to get.... At work I can get KYB Gr-2 struts for about $77 ea. Or I can also get Monroe sensa-tracs for about 65 ea. I recently got a set of STI springs ( thanks izzy) and I want a good set of struts that will give a good ride and that will last, but I suppose going from 2" drop springs anything will be an upgrade! So has anyone ever had or used KYB GR-2s , or is there something better to use? Or is there a vendor who has a good decently priced coil overs?

GR2s are decent, just a tinch stiffer than stock. If you keep an eye out you can get them way cheaper on eBay though. I paid $200 shipped for my last set of them. I really like my agx's I'm using now but they are paired with prodrive blue springs.

Yeah they may be cheaper on eBay but if I go with the GR-2s I might as well go throught my work that way I have the life time warranty through there...

Where do I find them and are they spendy?

Why not look at the KYB AGXs instead of the GR-2s? The AGXs will give you 4 way adjust ability, the GR-2s IIRC are fixed (comparable to AGXs set in the middle).

Well I am currently gettin prices on the AGXs to see how much they will be, if they are not too bad I will probably get those... I am just seeing what others have liked...

I had KYBs in my 04, I really liked them. The 4 way adjustability was really nice.

I just ordered last night Tokico d-specs, Group N top hats front and back, saggy butt spacers and the rear adjustment extenders to go with the used STI springs I picked up. The only other thing I considered was the BC coilovers but I had concerns about durability since I drive my car all year round and what I got was cheaper. If you are short on cash and just drive on the street, coilovers and what I did is too expensive. I think in the long term durability and for the price for my applications - spirited street, occasional autox & rallyx & road rally what I did is the way to go.

So the 'saggy butt spacers', where do I get those and how do they work? Do they go under the springs or between the coils or what? I have only heard of these things, but I really would like to get a set... Also where do I get a good set of top hats, and are some better than others?

So I found some saggy butt spacers on fastwrx.com and whenb looking at different things on there it seems like all the 02-03 Wrx struts and stuff is different as the 04-05 Wrx stuff. Will the 03-04 STI stock springs work on my bugeye? Boy I hope so....

    Check this out:

I think most aftermarket WRX struts are 02-03 WRX style. I got my stuff from here:

    http://www.turninconcepts.com

I asked them questions on what I was buying and if things would work. I am unclear on the 03-04 STI springs in your application. I think you have to replace the rear top hats. '03 STI springs really?

The caveat to this is I have no real experience with this. I'm sure there are others like Scuba Steve who has done a couple installs that could chime in with a little practical knowledge. At least so I hear.

Ok, sorry. I meant 04-05 STI springs... My understanding was that alot of Subaru parts are interchangable, but I could be wrong.

The struts are interchangeable, the tophats aren't.

Yea the 02-03 springs aren't tapered at the top but the 04-05's are so you gotta have the tophats that match the springs. Group N's all the way!
