This test was done in 2160x1080 @30FPS. I plan to test again either today or tomorrow with the full 4096x2048 @24fps "4K" mode. Additionally, I've attached some fake fur material that I skinned from a dead Furby, to the microphone hole, and turned the mount 180 degrees so the mic is facing aft. That should reduce the wind noise on the next run. Camera: Samsung Gear360 (2017) - 2160x1080 @30fps Mount: CravenSpeed Antenna Camera Mount
I think it needs to be tilted down a few more degrees to capture a car in the next lane (with less sky over it). Unless doing a drive by of a good buddy convoy. Do your next test on a multi lane road.
I didn't get a chance to make another run today. But I plan to give the car a bath tomorrow, and then take it out for a spin to test it again in 4K.
Here is round two. Still need a mic muffle on the left side microphone (not sure how I missed that there are two mics). Test video 3 later today should have even less wind noise with both mics muffled and the reduce wind noise setting turned on on the camera. This video is in 4096x2058 @24fps:
So, there was a third test today, and a 4th. I'm still processing the 4th. Test 3 wasn't much better than test 2. I'll still post it because you kids seem fascinated by it Test 4 was administered by Aegis using her phone with the noise reduction option turned on. It didn't seem to make much difference as far as we could tell, between Test 3 and Test 4. I'm at the point now where audio recording will be done by a separate device located inside the car to avoid all the wind noise. I will also be muffling the microphones on it so as to ensure it isn't a wind noise issue as well. I'll post up test 3 and 4 here shortly when I'm done with post process.
^wouldn't any audio recording device located in your trunk just record your car's sounds? I think no matter what the sound quality is like, having a video of the entire cruise is going to be great, esp for us because I don't think anyone has done anything like this before.
The microphone/audio recording device would be in the cabin with us when we're driving. So, it'll be out of the wind, but it will be able to hear car sounds outside of the cabin. Remember, we have a convertible
Here we go...Test 3 - Furby Skin muffs on both microphones: Test 4 - Furby Skin muffs + wind noise reduction option turned on in the Gear360 app on @Aegis phone:
