I thought the plan was to have Derek build the transmission all along?

the more I hang out with Fobia the more I see its cheaper to go with a domestic tranny to hold big power.

Why not just get a domestic and make big power easier in the first place.

there is plenty of 700-900whp subies out running around but they have way bigger wallets then i do. $10,000 for a drive line to hold is out of my ballpark. domestic is cheap and holds the power. now that's for going fast straight. if i was doing a time attack car or just a track car i would stick with the subaru stuff

If you knew how to run numbers, you would realize that converting to RWD with a proper tranny, diff, and driveline will cost you more than having the main man put a unit together for you. The center diff is what will go on your WRX tranny. No guesswork involved, because it is an actual differential, and the fact that the tranny is too smart for its own good in a high power setting.

The long and short of it is, you'll spend more money doing RWD than having our guy make a tranny for your app. Your WRX tranny is crap, and will grenade under decent power, due its design and application. The strongest 4EAT(not the one you have) is the SS 4EAT that has seen 8's. Granted, you'd have to make even more compromises to get there, but the option is awaiting. Keep AWD as long as you can.

oh ya, the older less computerized stronger 4EAT. I should start searching for one of those. plus I wanna see if derek's tranny holds up to that huge varialble vein turbo, if it does im in for sticking with AWD.

We shall see. Also, if his turbo holds up, I might have to go that route.

You can get them from junkyards for about 400. Also, the early '03 was slightly different than the later ones. We'll see how well it holds up to the extra 300 degrees from a gasoline engine.

Controlling it is a bit tricky. At the very least a 3D pwm map is needed, but a closed loop system would be even better. A wastegate is still needed.
