Ah, this is the thread where Trish guerilla posted about me. Yeah, the car does get sadly neglected. I think I've put more electricity into it this year than petrol. Well, until yesterday, that is. Taking our trip down to Prodrive and back used up more than 10% of the annual mileage the insurance company allows me. It is truly soul destroying to have it and not be in a position to properly enjoy it. As such, it's going into storage in a couple of weeks. I can't stand to see it sit outside languishing through another winter. So I've found it a place with some other rally cars. They're mostly old MkI and MkII Escorts, but I think they'll all get along just fine. Hopefully, the finances will pick up enough that I'll be able to bust her out again in the spring, take care of all the overdue maintenance, and then go out on some track days. Fingers crossed, eh.
I am happy to hear that there is hope for a comeback! This car has been fun to follow for the past couple years, sooooo, maybe you should take some pictures when you put into storage next to some other sechzy rally mobiles
Well, she'll be going into the 'Customer Shed' which is clean and tidy, as opposed to the 'Family Shed' which still needs a bit of mucking out. Interestingly enough, they had Classic Ford come out recently to do a photoshoot and story on their collection of Escorts, and the article is in this month's issue... http://www.classicfordmag.co.uk/2012/09/13/classic-ford-october-2012-issue-out-now/. The little box on the front cover that says 'Dream Garage' is about them. I picked up a copy today, so I can have a shufty at some of the cars that were still under covers when I went in. Methinks it might be worth the effort to try and make some new friends out of this.
Stuart, I know you haven't logged in for quiet some time.. But we need to see more pictures and hear about your adventures! Hopefully this sends an email or some notification..
