Third day riding yesterday. Took a corner a little to fast didn't lean enough to turn, go to close to the curb, smack the curb flew hit the lamp post on my back. Left frame slider is broken, clutch pedal is bent. Was going about 45 mph. I'm alright just super sore nothing broken thank god. The bike is still rideable, bent the clutch pedal back. Happened around Sherperd Rd.

I was really shooken up, but I still finished the rest of the ride and rode home afterwards. I know I should rest up but I think I'm gonna ride around town today after work.

Glad you're OK! First time putting the bike down? At least it was at a slower speed. Good to hear you're planning on taking the course. It can be tough getting into one this time of the year.

    Here is another school. http://advancedridingschool.net/
They run at Dakota County Technical College and also at Brainerd. I learned more in a day at one of these schools than years on the street.

Oh hell yeah, you don't want to play that game. Sportbikes have a lot of room for play but brother they will bite you hard!
Rabbit, I'm taking my bike to Har-Mar tomorrow night, the Subie is still incontinent.. LOL

So, I'm planning to take a day trip down to La Crosse, along the river, and then cut back to 35 via Hwy. 16 on Monday. If anyone is interested in joining me, let me know! I plan to leave out early (around 8 a.m.) and should be back by 7 p.m. I found this pretty nifty site and picked the Historic Bluffs County tour:
    http://www.openroadjourney.com/loadroute.asp?rid=414

Here's the actual route I'll be taking:
    http://tiny.cc/Mpls-LaCross-Dexter

I want to check out the caves in Harmony, just south of Preston.

Anyone ever take this route before? Any tips for these long journeys? I know my ass is gonna be sore, but it's worth it to me.

this is always how a majority of accidents happen to beginners.. you begin to forget your limits as you cruise with your friends then all of a sudden you LACK of ability springs out in a the form of a curb or tree etc... glad you are ok... Id spend more time alone riding, getting used to it etc...

Sorta bike related-I made plans to attend my first MotoGP race next month in Indy. Hopefully this hot weather stuff moves on. I haven't even looked at my bike for a week or more.

Having never been there we are just doing general admission and hoping that we wander into a decent place to hang out. We've been going to the AMA races at road america for the last six years so this should be fun checking out something different. I'd like to try to get to Laguna Seca one of these years.

I did AMA every year while in Phoenix, it was cool to have two tracks 45 minutes tops, away from my house.
The track has an interactive seating page. It's pretty funny because it was obviously a NASCAR race when they took the pictures..
But it gives you a "seat eye view" of the track. Cycle World does a package that is pretty cool, a bit pricey but you get to ride your bike on the track!!
The Speedway is a cool place, my girl friend lives nearby and we went for just a visit... You can really feel the history...

Nice route! Stopped in Wabasha to check out the National Eagle Center, and watched a one-eyed bald eagle feed on raw fish right in front of me. Stopped in La Crescent for beer and burger, then went west on Hwy 16. It was pretty cool following the Root River on one side, and having bluffs on the other side of the road and the river. It was definitely hot, but taking a small detour to Harmony, MN to take a tour of a 48 degree cave felt really good. My knees were starting to ache on the way back up 52, but it was worth it.

Any of you guys ever do ride reports? There is a guy on Nasioc that does them and I figured I'd give it a shot.

    Ride Report.....

So I just received a promotion at my current job with a small raise so I figured I'd celebrate by going on my first motorcycle road trip. I had been meaning to visit a few friends I met during school and decided it was time. The trip started in Eagan and ended in Houghton with a few side trips along the way (for you rally people, try riding a motorcycle up Brockway :D). What I didn't know is how incredibly uncomfortable the Street Triple is. I was probably stopping about every 45-70 miles to rest my ass. And it still hurts now.

    Day 1: August 9th, 2011
    [IMG]

So I decided to just wing it and go. I literally decided I would do this trip two days before I left. I tried to wake up early, but that never works for me, so I got up around 8 or 9, ate a little bit, packed (The only luggage I have is a Kriega us-20 tailpack so I jammed everything in there for 4 days), said goodbye to the gf, and took off.

As you can see from the map, I was going to stay off the Interstates, this was both good and bad, it was a common route for the Twin Cities tourists to take so there was a lot of overtaking (they are all old and drive 50-55). The benefit of staying off the Interstates was that I followed some pretty cool terrain and some beautiful rivers.

Eventually I got to my main stopping point to visit a good friend of mine in my college town of Ashland, WI. He didn't actually know I was stopping by, so it was kinda fun when I just showed up. If you haven't been to Ashland you are actually missing out on a bunch of pretty cool things. It is on Chequomegon Bay which is pretty good sized, good beaches, awesome Artesian well water (thank god for the camel back), and some really nice bars and brewery's.

I kinda forgot to add that during the trip up to Ashland I got rained on about 6 individual times. Unfortunately my "water proof" jacket isn't so waterproof and it kinda ruined my phone. So I couldn't listen to my copy of the radio show, "hitchhikers guide to the galaxy". Which turned out to be pretty good listening while on the bike.
    The storm I barely avoided:

The voyage from Ashland to Houghton was a pretty quick one, I didn't really stop anywhere because it wasn't that exciting, and it rained a lot, again. Oh, I also almost died in Bessemer, MI when a very old lady didn't bother to look over her shoulder when I was passing her. The best part about it was when I stopped at the light another car pulled up to me and yelled, "Wow!!! That lady almost killed you!" and I replied with, "when you're on a motorcycle, everyone is out to kill you." She laughed a bit and on we went. Eventually I got to Houghton and it started to rain, I found my friends place and settled in for some KBC beer and steaks (I forgot to take a pic of them, but they were good).

I'm gonna put up day 2 tomorrow, it didn't involve riding the motorcycle, but it did involve playing with a ton of guns just outside of a town called Gay, and no, we weren't busting out hate crimes on the locals

Just by you saying this means that it does. Little sore on the subject huh? Furthermore, how is this my opinion? I'm stating a fact, "I'm working on it" those are your words, but apparently not. You deserve a little bit of fun in your life, you had to sell your FXT, and now you have zero toys, and just like the rest of us, you arent getting any younger...... Not sayin, just sayin.

Nate, Yes I did find a solution... Sold my van and got a 96 GSXR 750. We should definately go riding sometime. Girlfriend has a bike as well and it would be nice to go riding as a group. I know a few others that would go as well :)

Three days til I hit Indy for the MotoGP races. for those that don't follow racing it's the premiere class of motorcycle racing. Think bugeye power in a bike that's not much over 300 lbs:eek: Can't wait.

This is my 1941 Whizzer motorbike. My grandfather purchased it brand new in Brooklyn New York. At some time the exhaust valve got stuck and he did not repair it, so it sat in his shed until his death. Once my father retrieved it, it again sat in his shed. After gathering dust for about 60 years, I pulled it and rebuilt the engine to get it running. Once running I threw new tires on it, and now ride it around town and trailer it to shows.

Just a few pics from Indy this last weekend.

1 series M coupe (1M?) safety car sounded great
    [IMG]

Speaking of sounding great. These GP bikes are pretty scary sounding.

And even 7 time world champions hiding behind glasses, on the phone, at the airport are gracious enough to take pictures with the fans hanging around. Probably the coolest celeb/athlete spotting for me to date.

I think it does, but others may disagree. If it has two wheels and goes vroom vroom it's cool in my book. Then again, I want a Vespa, so....my opinion may or may not have just been disqualified.
