Got a ticket in the mail today (The good kinda ticket) It'll be my second GP race and first time to Laguna Seca. Fingers crossed we can put together a trip to Texas next year http://circuitoftheamericas.com/articles/the-new-home-for-the-world-championships
Got sick of the little old beat to snot JR50 that barely started and when it did couldnt get out of the way of its own shadow... So came across a mint condition KDX50 (JR50 but kawa) for my 5yr old... Now he is ripping up the driveway and jumps... on training wheels (he is vertically challenged)... dang it... New (green) old (yellow) small video..... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10150885654362921
It's been a bit slow in the motorcycle thread this year Anyways I just got back from my Laguna Seca Moto GP/AMA trip so heres a few things to look at. Every morning seemed to start out this way but cleared up quickly to mid to upper 60s....just lovely corkscrew 160 or so blindly up the hill into turn 1 Had I known I coulda had my tits signed I wouldn't have bothered with my hat And yes there was even a car or two worth seeing
1st bike was a 09' Ninja 650r new from wheels. Then after a year and 8000 miles later I decided I wanted something bigger. So I did some perusing at the local dealerships to see if they had anything used, and was humoring the idea of new. Ended up picking up an 06' Ninja ZX10R with only 7400 miles. They gave me a decent trade in on my bike so I didn't hardly have to pay anything for the "new" bike. Here was the 1st one Here is what I have now ( I kinda miss having the kawi green to be honest, painting is in the ol idea bank )
Providing the weather is nice mid October I'm looking to go on a short cruise on the crotch rocket, and was wondering if anyone knew of any fun/cool destinations I could ride to in the ND/MN area. Not tooooo terribly far off from SD either, so maybe that's also a possibility. Is there anything worth riding on around here that's fun? Not looking to go balls to the wall illegal crazy, just something curvy and fun with maybe some local stuff to do.
Motorcycle boneyards...besides driving out to Jordan. Anything on the northside? I need a clutch lever. thanks

Here is what I sold my bugeye for: Trailered back to the cities from Valley City, ND [thanks uhaul]. Awful drive, but worth it in the end: Now I just need to find some good routes to cruise and some people to ride with
Booked our third MotoGP race yesterday. Indy(2011)-Laguna Seca(12)-and Circuit of the Americas(Austin Texas)this april. I'm super excited to see the new track. I kinda want to sell the car to buy a cruiser or maybe supermoto?
So ya'll like motorcycles ay? How many of you have seen one of these? 1958 Harley Davidson Servi-Car. Passed down to me by my Dad, who can no longer ride it due to medical issues. Fun to ride, 55 +/- mph max speed. 3 speed, W/ reverse. Definitely a head turner.
Thanks. It only gets about 20 miles or so a year on it. Not exactly meant for cruising. But fun to have, and I will never sell it. My Dad has had it since before I was born. He got it as a basket case, found in a barn of an old farmer he worked for when he was in his 20's.
Unfortunately no. I'm sure my Dad did at one point, but after several moves in the last 30+ years they've vanished. It is incredibly stock tho, right down to the clothe insulation on the wiring.
Neither really. It's got the old 45 motor. 750cc. Balanced and blue printed. Sounds more like a tractor then a Harley really. Haha.
Kind of hard to tell with those. They used up a bunch of old parts for a bunch of different years. The 45 Flathead is an awesome engine for reliability, just not for speed. Simple design and durable. I always wanted one of those.
Yeah, the motor itself hasn't been cracked open since 1982 or 1983 when my Dad did the first initial restore on the bike. The carb is what has given us the most issues. But it never really gets ran enough to get the little bugs worked out of it.
So I am very uneducated about bikes, I am wondering what people think of Aprilia? I tend to go against the grain with trends of popular choices and I see soo many R6,R1, GSXR's and Ninjas and I am looking for a 1st time bike. http://www.leossouth.com/2002ApriliaFalco-inventory.htm?id=376195&used=1&vin=100617#img1
First time bike as in, you've never ridden before? Take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I'd recommend staying away from liter bikes if you're looking for a first.
Yes, never rode before, alot of people I know tell my I will get bored quick with a small bike so I havent figured out where I should look. I am mainly looking for something to tool around on, something cheaper. I think the furthest I would ever drive is to Rochester maybe. Also to drive when I don't have to run the young bucks around to save gas and miles on the Subaru.
My FZ6 still scares the crap out of me (first bike). Don't worry about getting bored with a smaller displacement bike if you've never had one before. If you want to step into a liter bike, at least ride a season on a Ninja 250. Get one used, they don't lose much value. Sell it once you're comfortable/bored, then get a bigger one. That's my advice, at least. I was more concerned with keeping my organs on the inside than being bored. Which reminds me, please at least spring for good, full gear if you're going to get that Aprilia as your first bike.
Yeah, I have no need to go fast and I don't need to buy a new bike, I almost considered the new Ninja 300, I like the looks and like I said I don't plan to do anything crazy, I just know once I get a bike, my wife will want to hop on at some point.
Here's a comparison of the bike you linked vs a Ninja 300 for mileage: http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/aprilia/sl 1000 falco http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/kawasaki/ninja 300 Something to consider. I know getting 50-55 mpg with mine is a huge contributing factor to me not selling it and getting a second subaru.
*It's been said a million times but Suzuki sv650 for a new (or even experienced) riders. Cheap, a bit less cookie cutter, v-twin sound etc...
Just picked up my first bike this weekend! 79 Honda cx500. It needs a little work but should clean up nice and be a good rider. Mike
Yeah that's what i've been told It has 28k on it now and should be good to go much longer than that. Ultimately i would like to make it a beauty queen, here is some inspiration for me. http://uncrate.com/stuff/moto-mucci-honda-cx500-motorcycle/
Looking at picking on up myself here soon, but have been stuck on what size to get as well. it is going to spend most of its time cruising up and down the highway to work and back. some poeple say not to go with a smallers bike like the 250, 300. something about not being stable enough at speed because of the lighter weight. whats are your guys thought on that?
Still haven't seen my bike in 7 months and weather/roads are still not cooperating but I did go to Texas recently for the MotoGP races at the new Circuit of the Americas track in Austin. Figures I could share a little bit of that since there isn't much motorcycle chat going on this year.
I'm bored, I got one of these cruiser fellas in June. I'm loving every second. About 10 minutes after buying it: Slowly becoming what I want it to be.
I like the bars. was never a fan of studded leather on any bike. just my two cents though. +1 on the vh longshots.
The studded seat(s) are standard on silverados, I'm not much of a fan either, but seats are effing expensive. The pipes are cobra speedster longs, V&H look lots like this, but these hang down lower, the longshots swoop up under the cam cover. Next mods are going to be a speedstar ignition module to raise the rev limit, or a dyna 3000, an oil pressure gauge, and maybe a 31 tooth front pulley.
ill give it a wash and wax this weekend and snag the womans slr for some shiny pics the black to chrome ratio on the bike is gnarly.
I was gonna buy one, a flamed out one, it was very handsome. However, when I heard it run, it wasn't for me, it sounded like a dirtbike at idle. I had to have that potato potato potato that a single pin crank delivers. Pretty dumb to buy on sound, but I didn't want to resent the bike, as it was my first cruiser.
