There seems to be a decent amount of play in my shift linkage and I am looking to tighten it up. I do know that the little plastic bushing knob/pivot on the bottom of the shifter shaft is loose. It would be nice to replace that entire part but do not know where to look for a replacement and I don't know the technical name for the part.

I am currently looking for options.

    Thanks for your help.

I would also be interested in aftermarket options as well. I'm not looking to spend a ton of money on this though. :)

Is the slop in the lever? When in gear? Between gears? All of the above? Kartboy shift lever and pivot bushing might be a solution depending on what's going on. I think the lever is around $100 and the pivot bushing is about $15.

Pretty sure the slop is in the lever. New (to me) transmission just went in last week, only 45k on it so I don't think it's in the gears. I am not sure if they used the previous shift linkage though. I know the previous had slop in the lever.

Not sure that I want to go with a short shifter though. What is the advantage?

    Thanks.

Those stay bar bushings are usually the cause of most of the slop in the shifter. I have the Kartboy version and they are fantastic. If you can pull up and down on the shifter these bushings will take care of it. There are also some bushings at the pivot between the lever and the shifter rod and some at the knuckle side of that rod but no aftermarket options I know of.
Short throws are fantastic. Easy to install, remove quite a bit of throw to get in gear. I would never go back after getting one.
This is a great place to get assembly pictures and part numbers for things like the shifter.
