I know the timing belt for the 02 RS has 223 teeth, how many teeth do the cams have (specifically the driver side one)?

Pretty sure this is just a gears style math problem, but the timing marks on the belt do not always line up with the marks on the cam right? Only when you install it and every n rotations of the belt that is some common multiple of the cam and belt tooth count?

Correct, the marks don't line up on every rotation.

At some point it should line back up. I think the marks on the gears should line up every two rotations. The marks on the belt I'm not sure how many to get it back in line with the cam gear marks. The cam gears should have twice the teeth the crank gear does. maybe 24 and 48?

    thanks!

with 223 vs 48 the lowest common multiple is 48*223 or 10704 teeth (48 revolutions of the belt and 223 revolutions of the cam gear)

makes much more sense in the morning instead of at midnight
