Hi all, I'm in the process of purchasing parts for my timing belt replacement and I've purchased the Gates Timing belt kit w/ waterpump. I've also been researching and I'd also need a better waterpump gasket as well. My question is, are there any other parts that need to be replaced as well? I have over 110k miles and well past my maint. required. From what I've researched here are some other things I should replace: - 4 cam and 2 crank seals (grab more as they may be needed) - radiator pipes - Thermostat and gasket I just want to make this all in one shot so I don't need to go back to replace anything in a couple months after the replacement. If there's anything else I need to know.... let me know... Yeah. Thanks all!
The camshaft seals is optional but I would do it. They can begin to leak. The radiator hose and thermostat (with gasket) should also be done while doing a timing belt job. If the kit comes with a paper gasket, I suggest grabbing an oem one. Some kits come with the metal gasket while some comes with the paper gasket.
Both accessory belts, ac idler pulley and the smallest pulley in the gates kit is made in taiwan. I didn't use it but thats up to you.
