As the subject says. I am willing to trade my Crystal Grey STi Trunklid with wing (and STi emblem) for a Crystal Grey WRX Trunklid (original color only) with spoiler. Besides me being too old (40+), my wife isn't happy with the kind of attention the wing brings me. ;)

    EVEN UP Trade.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Why don't you just trade the wing and debadge the trunk?

The STi spoiler has more holes then the WRX. I've always wanted to see the new gray color in person...Cool color, good choice. You should plan on swapping the trunk spring too, or else the lighter WRX wing will cause your trunk to violently fly open when you pop it from inside.

I was wondering about the springs - excellent point. I have a feeling I will be waiting a while for the grey WRXs to start hitting the street.

Yep, removing the wing from the trunk requires plugging holes. Someone has got to want a wing on their WRX?

    Thanks,
    Paul

Paul, try to get ahold of Mark Utech. He had a new trunk lid painted for his car and put on, so he is running without a spoiler now. Of course, he remove his because of the high speed (130mph) buzzing that it creates. He could probably get ya a part number and price for the lid and what else he had to change for the swap.

    Thanks Russ,

I priced out a trunk lid with C-Grey paint at $450. The new STi doesn't have a third brake light in the window; therefore, I would want the decklid spoiler with light as well. That adds another $400. I hope that someone out there will want to trade. No rush for now.

Hope all is well with you!

Just curious, did you buy the one at White Bear Subaru? They took a deposit from me, but called the next day to say it had already been sold. Oops. So I had to order one instead. (I'll be looking to trade my wing when it shows up too.) Sucks that even when you order one, you can't get it without the wing (or with more MN-friendly tires.)

Yep, I got it from White Bear Subaru - Sam Basho. I've got some history with him: I bought an '00RS, an '02WRX, and now this one. I really fell in love with the color when I first saw it.

I offered to trade my wing for a regular trunklid in the lot; the best they would do is offer me an additional regular trunk for ~$450 plus $400 for the deck spoiler. I figured I'd see what I could do on the forums.

By the way, the tires are great in the summer ... on dry pavement. They are noisy - even noisier than my old G-Force's - but who cares. The rest of the car is noisy as well. The tires are OK in the wet but not as good as my old KDWs.

    When does your STi arrive?

I had talked to them on Monday, went in on Wednesday and the car had a sold tag on it, but Eric (the sales guy I have been dealing with) talked to the manager and no one could figure out who sold it. So they decided it must be available. Sounds like Sam was pretty ticked off when he got in Thursday and found out they had "sold" it twice. They couldn't find another Crystal Gray within like 500 miles.

I guess that car was originally ordered or sold to a guy from Rochester; he showed up with his wife to pick it up and she thought it was so ugly she wouldn't let him have it :D

Anyway, congrats on the car, though I wish I had moved on it a day or two sooner - the wait is killing me...
