I would guess ~25k trade value from the sti... although the OP mentioned a "lease," so who knows. STi lease deals are around what? $5-600 a month (if you REALLY get fuxed) with a money factor 2x higher than new car financing rates? Should be easy to get/negotiate strong residual value but still... None of it adds up. Seems like mental masturbation from the get go.

    75k, 72 months, 26k down. Puts it close to $750 / mo.

I do plan on buying the STi after the lease is up, and fully paying it off before I would buy the GT-R.

I had the same idea , beautiful car but you will miss the subie (how u guys call it) lol

Got 3 friends thats has one

1- loves it (old man lol) little mode and dont do much with it.

2- love it , the clutch went and car stood for 4 months so he can save up money to get it fixed lol

3- sold it and build a rocket **** of a gc8 sti type r (missed the real feel of driving and not get driven)

I have heard if the gearbox goes on it you will cry.

In my case why have the slowest GTR if you can have fastest subie

I have had modified cars before. Once you start modifying it you start to lose reliability. So, yes, I could mod the hell out of my Subie, and get it close to where a GT-R would be, but a GT-R just has that wow factor. Both cars would be fantastic. Who knows, I might keep it, I could get a sweet deal when my lease is up on a new STi, etc. Still a far ways out.

I know my friend wanted a GTR but went with the 370 instead because of what he could do with it as mod. also a lot cheaper for him in long run.

The only reason I wouldn't do the 370Z is because it is RWD. Living in Minnesota, I need a vehicle I can drive year round. I would make the GT-R my DD as well. Yes, even in winter.

yeah that is the down side to it, and when you live here I would understand why you wouldn't want to drive the RWD. I was just giving you an option if you wanted to upgrade

To be honest, I don't know if a 370Z would be an upgrade for an STi. I would think that would be an equal trade. I would go as far as saying a 370Z Nismo is about an even trade to an STi. Still nice vehicles though. They do sound very nice with exhaust too.

for the payments of a GT-R you can do a 370Z nismo and a winter car

Very true. Wouldn't be the same though. 6 months out of the year I would be in a winter beater.

Yeah, but you'd maintain the resale value of the GT-R or Nismo instead of it rusting to death on salty Minnesota roads. With either, you should have a winter beater anyway.

Seriously. F this salt sh!t. I really wish they'd make snow tires mandatory and eliminate the salt usage.

Pretty much. The salt is insidious.

But then the SUV drivers would have to blame their new winter tires for crashing into the guardrail when it snows. Because slowing down just is not an option.
