Does anyone know where I could find a list of compatible transmissions for my 2002 Outback Limited (5spd manual)? I have been told that any 5spd manual out of a Legacy/Outback from 97-04 should be compatible but I would like to double check before I purchase something. I have been doing some searching online but haven't really come up with much information. I am guessing I am just not using the correct search criteria.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Thanks for the info phi11!

Pretty sure I broke something in the gearbox. It is super sloppy and will not stay in 4th gear anymore... barely stays in 3rd as well. I have a bead on another transmission with low miles and that seems to make more sense than attempting a rebuild on my current one. I'm just not sure if it completely compatible.

Looks like I may be swapping the rear diff as well if I cannot find a transmission with a 3.9 final gear ratio.

I have a 93 impreza awd tranny, has a good amount of miles on it but it appears you would also need the rear diff....

I haven't officially checked my transmission but according to every list I have seen, a 2002 Legacy Outback Limited has a 3.9 final drive ratio.

I think it should be a 4.11, but I have seen 00-01 outbacks with 3.90's. Take the code off of your transmission bell housing and look it up. Should start with TZxxxxxxxxx I think.

Hope this helps... Looks like it should be a 3.90. Oh and the tranny code starts with TY not TZ. I'm retarded.

Had me worried for a second. I have done the research and am pretty sure it is a 3.90. I haven't found my model listed with a 4.11 anywhere. :)
