I think this is something I'd like to try but it's my first rally event so I'm going to come as a spectator. Being a student I'm not sure how I would feel if my only ride got messed up. as soon as most of my $ doesn't go to school, living, and gas I could definitely see getting into these. Had some questions: How long do the races go? Are dogs aloud? Is it loud (seems like a dumb question but the dog freaks out pretty easily)? Free for spectators? Any sledding nearby? thanks

Just picked up a 3-pack of radios from Target. I'll bring all of them in case someone needs to borrow one.

no real good spectating at this event. Please pay the $15.00 weekend membership for weekend SCCA insurance, get a wrist band, I'll guarantee you a ride in our team's stage rally car for a lap.

Dogs- they are welcome, but have to be controlled and on a leash. Yes it's loud!!!

No real sledding near by, all private property.

Driving starts around 11 and goes til whenever...usually 3-4PM

WE WILL NOT CHARGE FOR PASSENGERS!!!!!!!!! You still need to sign the waiver and get a wrist band.

    lol...fail on that one. ;)

Can't wait! Jesse's hard at work getting the Hot-dai and Aqua Thunder ready right now. We'll likely be running in the M4 class also, since we'll be using gravel tires. You turbo guys are going down!

Just a guess but it might have been the increased risk of hitting hard things.

when you let off the gas, your car sounds like it has some mean subwoofers in the trunk, can you hear that inside? Dustin's STI was doing that too,

I've never really noticed it inside the car but this morning a guy at a car wash I went through asked what kind of "system" I had. Guessing he was hearing the exhaust as this car's sound system kind of sucks.

I had a blast at the event. The worst part of the day was having to leave early because of my 4 hour drive back home. It was my first ever rallycross and am going to be pushing really hard to bring it to the DMVR region in Des Moines.

I also want to apologize to the guys that had to push me out of the snow twice during my runs. Even though I knew I needed to take that tight turn slower, I kept coming in too fast.

I made sure I slowed way early before the couple critical turns on the course. It's always better to brake early and come into it slow and then get out of the corner quickly than it is to fly into the corner and hope things magically work out. It's easier to be gungho when you have plenty of grip and the grip is consistent. When it's less consistent and low grip like it was, you really do need to err on the side of caution. You can always roll on the throttle when it's safe to. These types of courses are a lot about patience and knowing when to be conservative, stay off the throttle (or light throttle in the case of awd and fwd at times).

As for results, I don't have a clue. Usually they are pretty quick about things, say within a couple days or so, but there are several events even from last year that were never posted. I'm not sure who was maintaining the website's data and if they are still there doing it. The data exists. It's just a matter of when they get around to putting it up on the website. People do have full time jobs and daily life ya know, so it can take a little bit of time.

    within a couple days.

I'm bummed. I hit at least two 59 seconds runs, but the WOT throttle in the rally car towards the finish I guess i clipped a cone on each run. Boo....

Otherwise I was pleased with me 3rd overall

Ha! No problem. I also had to leave a bit early so it turns out I only had to help push you out once:).

Yea, that's one thing I learned during the event. I'm so used to autocrossing and road racing that switching up the surface really threw me. I'm definitely going to file that info away for the next event though. I can't wait to get on another rally course (hopefully, this weekend in Nebraska) so that I can get more experience on the dynamic surface conditions in rallycross.

Not a problem! Pushed you out both times. I needed the exercise lol! You were letting off the throttle, when you should have just kept hammering through the fluff. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Had a great time! I think I placed 16th overall, 3rd in PA? Not bad, considering that we were using hard-compound gravel tires on ice! Next time, I'll have some proper snow tires.

Speaking of next time, please let Dave Goodman (Scuba Steve) know of ANY open, relatively flat land that we could rent. We are unsure still of where we will be racing for most of this season, and our next race is less then a month away!

So if you don't run that last set you get a 125? Damn that sucks! Oh well, first time out + 6 month wedding anniversary (had to leave early as we apparently celebrate that at my house?) and I'm not quite dead last. Seemed to be holding my own in SA for the two sets I did run however so I'm happy with that. Thanks for posting!
